So it seems like I have been seeing quite a few posts about quality issues with Stern's latest, Tron. I am curious how other people feel.

The reason I ask is because pinball has changed tremendously over the years. Back in the 80's & 90's most new pinballs were going to operators who would instantly put them on location. Overspray, dimples etc I assume were overlooked as long as the game functionally worked and made them money. Nowadays a majority (my opinion) are going to collectors for home use only and are much more critical of quality issues.

With that said I would be hesitant to buy a new game from Stern from a collectors point of view.

Thoughts/comments?

Stern is well aware of the issues on Tron, and they heard hell for it. I think they've finally realized collectors won't put up with that shit....and from now on things will be more "fine tooth combed". If not, they'll hear hell for it, again.

The good thing is - if you get a game that's got issues...they will take care of it and send you new parts and whatnot. ...obviously that costs them money, and its to their benefit to take care of stuff FIRST, not later.

So far, I have had good luck with my Tron LE machine. I have noticed a couple of VERY minor nitpicks, but nothing that wasn't just a simple tweak or adjustment. These are complicated mechanical and electronic devices, and a certain percentage of games are BOUND to have issues. I still have a little less than 100 plays, but so far, so good...
