I was having lunch with my girlfriends family when my phone beeps at me letting me know that a new arcade post has went up on craigslist (god I love this phone!) so I check it out, and see this: http://knoxville.craigslist.org/vgm/2371078546.html

I call the guy up, he tells me they are still available, that they used to work and when he moved here from texas they quit working, so, without bugging the crap out of him about the games, what works, how good of shape they are in, etc, I tell him I will take them and I am on my way with a dolly and a truck to get them. a half hour and 25 bucks later, they are in my basement. Enduro racer is having some board problems, getting graphic glitches, sound glitches and solid screens of color. Commando is a different story, the board fires up, coins up, but the monitor seems to be D.O.A., but the best part is this is a converted Q-bert and it appears all the wiring is still intact for the qbert! Im pretty confident I will be attempting to restore this bad boy to its former glory. Man....its about time one of these deals popped up in my own neck of the woods, I am tired of driving several hours haha!! here are some pics:

That's awesome. I actually had driven up from Lexington to pick up a Playchoice game that was posted on the Knoxville CL. I saw these on there but I already have a Commando in excellent shape. Great find.

Q-bert Commando, cool.
Any remnants of Q-bert in that cabinet? Plans to deconvert it back?

It appears all of the qbert wiring is intact, and I peeled up the commando cpo to reveal a qbert cpo! Im pretty stoked, however, I've been pricing qbert pcbs and boy are they pricey!

Wish you'd have posted this a month or so ago. I just got rid of an enduro racer, had a working board, too. I had tried to give it away locally with no luck, so it ended up in the big arcade in the sky...

Does it have the knocker in it? (hopefully)

Too cool! Can't go wrong for $25.

The main board probably isn't that bad. Finding a working power supply might be harder. It has some funky output voltages as well. Not sure if you can use a switcher or not. There may be a workaround that I don't know about by now. The real SOB to find is the sound board. Stupid engineers decided to run the audio amp with a voltage supply that is 2V higher than the max rating of the amp. So naturally, the lion share of them are fried. That is what kept me from realizing my dreams of Q*bert reconversion. I had one that was turned into Touchdown Fever (it had actually been a Q*bert Quebes, still had the lower CPO). I had everything except the sound board. Main board, PS, wiring, marquee, bezel, CPO's and side art. Unfortunately, I had money problems and had to sell the board. I ended up trading the cabinet and everything else to a guy for a working Tron power supply. Bad memories. I would really like to have a Q*bert.

Man that really sucks!!! Hurts my heart to hear that lol

What kind of phone do you have and what program are you using for craigslist searches?

I have an HTC Evo, and I just downloaded the standard craigslist app in the marketplace. I set it to tell me whenever someone posts an add containing "arcade" in my general area.
