I was advised to redo the caps on the power supply of my Star Trek to alleviate the sound amp problem. I can get caps with the same uF reading, but with higher voltage. Does the same rule for capping a monitor apply to a power supply (i.e, same uF but can use higher voltage caps)?

That is my (admittedly fuzzy) recollection. IIRC, the voltage is the breakdown voltage and doesn't otherwise affect performance in circuit.

Yes... Same uf rating, higher voltage is fine - as long as they physically fit into the same space.

Space usually isn't an issue since newer caps are physically smaller.
