If the neck glows orange, that's usually okay. if you see blue lightning inside, then you have a break...
I have a monitor with blue lightning and a small piece of glass missing just above where the neck board attaches. The tube is junk now, isn't it? No way to plug the hole?
that's the symptom of cracked tube w/ lost vacuum...
Even if you plugged the tube, the vacuum is lost so obviously you need to find a new tube by swap it with a compatible TV tube.
Seach "tube swap" and you may find Orion's TV tube charts. That's the best place to star. What is the monitor type?
i use compressed air and a rag. THATS IT. Be careful not to rub the "grey stuff" on the back of the tube too hard. Its called aqua-dag or some krap and the tube wont be happy without it. ..
Wish I'd read this a day sooner. I think i took of some of the grey stuff. Came of fairly easy. I don't scrub it. I probably took off 2-3 inches from each side of the anode hole. Am i screwed?
