i have a konami racing jam game and the steering is messed up...the manual says refer to page 47 for instructions on how to recalibrate the pot after replacing it...my manual only goes up to page 30 ?!?!?!...when the pot is physically centered, the reference line on the test pattern is WAY left...when the pot is physically all the way to the right, then so is the reference line on the test pattern...it only take about 30 degrees of left rotation to get the mark on the refernce line to jump completely to the left...instead of being in sync with the pot...any thoughts?

I'm not familiar with Racing Jam, nor do I have a manual to look at, but.....
I assume you have the right replacement pot by type. (270 degree, 360 degree, whatever was in it)
Some games require a specific set of button combinations to SET the calibration, don't know if that one is like that. For instance a Namco Cybersled has you set the joysticks (pot based sticks) and then push something like Setup and Service button simultaneously to set the basic calibration. Maybe it's something like that to get you close to calibration after setting the pot centered.

Honestly not sure on THAT specific game though.

thanks, i'll experiment a little...i have test and service buttons in the coin door and also on the pcb itself...

I had a Konami Racing Force that was out of calibration. I had to open the control panel up...to physically access the pots. I loosened up the pot from it's mount...so I could adjust it....and center the reference marks on the test screen....tightened pot back down....closed her up. Done.

IIRC, My Racing Force had 360 degree....there was no "center". What's yours...270 degree?
