I'm currently on my rotary stick project machine and with a new CP on the way, it's time to take these LS-30's apart and clean them up. For those that wander into this thread from the future, there is already info on taking apart and cleaning the rotary "box" here.
What I'm wondering is replacing the the normal directional switches. IIRC (on the Internet or maybe I dreamed it), I read somewhere that the switches used on these sticks that handle up, down, left, right aren't like normal cherry switches. Has anyone replaced the switches with something comparable to what is typically NOS on these things? If so, what did you get and where did you get them? Or am I completely wrong and I can use normal switches?
It also looks like I need to swap the spring and a few metal parts out on these sticks as well. There is a lot of rust build up on the plate and the visible parts I can see pre-op. I can only imagine everything metal is rusted to hell in there. Any recommendations on any of those misc. parts as well. Is any of it "special" or can I gut one of my spare HAPPs for the parts I need? (obviously probably have to live with the shaft...rusted shaft seems default when rebuilding sticks that can't be easily replaced
)?
