Wasn't there a blog or wiki somewhere, where one of our members went through a rebuild of the Atari logo joysticks? I found the one with the joysticks for the Cyberball joysticks but that isn't quite what I was looking for. I also have some instructions from a few of the posts but there is nothing like pictures to make things go easier.

Anyone have any ideas?

it's pretty easy. The main thing is to have the proper roll pin punchers and a nice, clean and steady work area. I don't have pics but it really is easy. Plan on a good 30 minutes since this sounds like your first rebuild.

Also, a lot of people do not realize that wear from the plunger comes from the contact of the upper housing. If you do not replace the upper housing, your sticks will have some "crunch" spots that you will feel once the stick is put back together. Replacing the plunger is good and you will see a difference, but plunger + upper housing + pivot ball is the best way to go.

Thanks. I think these might be illustrated in Atari's Big Book. I have to find my copy and check. I just wanted to know what I was getting into before I started taking them apart.

Didn't Nash have a few Atari rebuilds documented? I believe he has since taken them all offline.

Cyberball joysticks

I believe that the Atari joysticks for Gauntlet and Cyberball are identical. I own a Cyberball machine and have the Atari mechanical assemblies book. The book has schematics for two types of joysticks. Send me a PM with your e-mail if interested in recieving the PDF.
