Is there anyone out there that offers this service. I just don't feel comfortable enough to even try this myself. The last thing I want to do is make this thing worse.

Thanks

Mike Martin

What's worn? I'd probably assume the pots need replacing. Mine is really flaky in the fwd and back and I plan to replace both pots. If the pressed in bearings aren't sloppy, you could tear it apart, clean, and lube them. If the springs seem weak, you could get replacements for those. One more thing to consider is that sometimes the assy develops a crack in the weld and has to be rewelded. Can you post more info about your problem?

Would be interested in this also. I want to get the metal powder coated or chromed but not able to get some of the parts off easily...

I Pm'D the op and will reiterate:

If someone is willing to pay for the work, has the rebuild parts they want installed, and wants to ship it to me, I'll do the work. I did a complete rebuild on mine, including disassembly of every single part and can provide pics of mine.

My build consisted of:

-NOS main handlebars
-covers nickel plated by Mike Chestnut
-NOS grips
-NOS/repro gears, pots, bronze bushings, springs
-housing weld repaired
-stainless cover screws
-refinish upper and lower housings in satin oil based black

So I know first hand what a PITA rebuilding the controller assy is and how much time is involved.

Having the handlebars nickel plated is an option, as Mike Chestnut will do this. PM me if interested.
