I found a few ARII and ARIII rebuild kits, and a few other monitor rebuild kits, sitting in ziploc bags on the shelf. All these kits are unused.

I have no idea how long they have been sitting there. They contain the normal things -- caps, a few resistors, transistors, etc.

Does anyone know how long they can sit on the shelf and still be good?

Thanks!

Hard to say - and who's to say how old the parts in the kits are? Last AR-II rebuild kit I got from Bob Roberts had caps with date codes in the early 80's. Only a year newer than the parts I was replacing. They worked fine though.

Caps have a shelf life, but resistors, transistors, etc. do not.

That's a great point about the age of the parts in the kits. I bet a lot of the parts in the kits are real old.
