Reasons in Why You Sell Your Games

I've only sold 2 games that I bought for me, and were not bought knowing they would be sold.

Race Drivin' - too big to get into basement.
Crazy Climber cocktail - threw it into a deal to make the deal happen.

Wish I had them both back. Selling games sucks.

I've only sold a few games, but I did so in order to land games that I wanted more. I'm out of space now, so when I want a new game, something has to go. Honestly, I like it like that. It keeps my game room fresh and it forces me to be picky about what comes in and what goes out.

In order of most common:

1. Make room for another.
2. Bought it for the sole purpose of fixing and selling for profit.
3. Get offered too much money to say no.

- Game isn't as awesome as I remembered playing it as a kid.
- As a result of above, game doesn't get any play.
- Lack of space.
- Money towards a different game or project.

1. Bought it for the sole purpose of fixing and selling for profit.

What else is better than a fun hobby that you can make $$ at doing?

Game got boring because of free play (Simpsons)

Movie hype = profit (DOT)

Out of room (none yet, but it's coming...)

Picked it up to flip (ms pac. It was cheap, needed a little to be very good)

1. Bought it broken, just sat and now I don't have the interest to troubleshoot it.

2. Wasn't as fun as I remembered BITD.

3. Dissolution of Marriage terms

I tell myself that I have all the games that I want, but I still like the thrill of the hunt. Finding and scoring are two large parts of the hobby for me. I cant help but check CL all the time, so occasionally I pick something up with the sole intent to fix it and sell it. If I can make a few bucks, then I can justify the obsession :)

1. Out of space
2. Bought it to flip it
3. My wife wanted it, now doesn't play it
4. Cash for more games/projects
5. it pisses me off 'cause I suck at it (Stargate comes to mind. I've rebuilt 5 and sold 4. The new one hasn't pissed me off enough, yet)

Because i don't want to get caught in the flood of people that will sell everything they have in the next few years to put their kids through college. This market has taken a hard hit over the past two years, people are selling shit more than ever and there won't be enough people (with money) to absorb everything that comes up for sale. It's happening now and will only get worse. By the time the economy comes back around, people will be so far in debt that arcade game purchases or any kind of foolish spending will be the last thing on their mind.

Says the one who's currently selling everything he has to buy something else he wants.

I want to sell some but it is just soooooo damn hard -- the reason, I want to make room to bring other titles into the mix.

Maybe I just need to find a bigger place or blow out a wall and expand into the workshop/laundry area of the basement. I just don't know.

I had to sell all of mine earlier this year, so I could pay my bills. I hated seeing them go after all the time I put into them. I'm adamant about paying my bills on time, and that's more important than a game. I'd have kept them if I had any money at all.

The game finds someone who loves it more then I do..
It a holly grail of a good friend.
Comfort to a friend who's wife left and his son passing away within 3 days.
To a great cause, Up for a charity auction.
Friends finding and feeding your arcade addictions LOL

these days, i mainly sell the ones that weren't meant to be. i have a rough idea of the games i want to permanently have in the gameroom, and the ones that i buy for the hell of it that i get bored with, i get rid of. also, to trade up for another, mainly with cocktails. i'd like to get rid of my donkey kong cocktail if i could get a DK upright. but aside from that, i'll keep the cocktail. all the games i have right now are keepers.
