i have a defense command cab, and i just discovered a taito label inside the cab under a speaker.

the ink has faded to the point where it is too faint to read.

any tricks to use to enable me to read the text and find out what game the cab originally had in it ? (you know, forensics style!)

the cab also has a serial no plate.

Cheers!

Don't know any ink tricks but you can usually determine what game was in it by the cab colors. Taitos had a color scheme for each game.

maybe try scanning the label and changing the contrast ratio or palette on the scan?

that does involve removing the label from the cab which you may not wish to do...

You may try reading it under a blacklight. The areas that had ink may still have residues left in the paper, and the blacklight might make the surrounding white area glow brighter than the areas that had ink, making it easier to read...

Problem solved!

aha! was walking to the copier and under a particular flouro i could just read "colony-7". whoo hoo!

so in summary it is a conversion. it was a Taito "colony-7" cab, supplied by leisure and allied industries (Australia) with prob the original side art/finish painted over with black, with pale blue front kick panels (no art), a "Defense" marquee and a Defense Command (rev 1) pcb set and a metal screen printed "Defender" CPO.

so what do you think i should do with the cab now ?
