Welcome to the VAPS Trading Post! We want to create a safe and fair environment to buy, sell, and trade coin-op machines and parts. Before posting any parts or machines for sale, please be sure to familiarize yourself with this short list of rules.
• RULE #1 - PARTING OUT GAMES
This is the Video Arcade Preservation Society, a community dedicated to preserving the golden age of arcade games and pinball machines. In a perfect world, all games are salvageable. But in reality, some may not be. When a games' condition lies within your opinion of a "total loss" or is beyond your skillset to repair, we require that the whole machine be posted for sale for TWO WEEKS before proceeding to offer individual parts for sale. Our goal is to hopefully find a willing buyer who may be up for the challenge to save these increasingly rare machines. This rule applies to buyers as well. Do not ask a seller to part out a machine because you need the PCB.
• RULE #2 - SELLERS CANNOT REQUIRE "FRIENDS & FAMILY" PAYMENT
We realize it's easy to trust your fellow peers that whatever they're selling is as-described, for better or worse. In regards to electronic payments (i.e. PayPal, Apple Pay, Venmo, etc), sellers are NOT ALLOWED TO FORCE a buyer to pay via any electronic medium that does not give them recourse should something go wrong. The buyers themselves can choose whether or not to take such a risk. It is polite form to offer fee coverage if applicable, but is also not required. As always, be sure to read all member feedback carefully.
• RULE #3 - NO PRICE POLICING
Is someone asking $2500 for their thrice-converted Trivia Whiz cocktail? Does that seem like too much? Fine. Keep it to yourself. There is no need to insult, demean, or ridicule any seller in regards to the asking price of their equipment no matter how outlandish it may seem to you.
• RULE #4 - NO SPAMMING OR OVER-POSTING
These forums can only hold so many threads per page. Out of respect for your fellow peers on this forum, you are allowed TWO THREADS PER USER, PER CATEGORY within a 24-hour period, and this includes bumping existing threads. This does not mean you can only sell two things at a time. We simply ask that multiple items/games are combined into one neat thread instead of 15 individual posts.
• RULE #5 - COMMUNICATE
Nobody likes being left in the dust or listening to radio silence. Provide tracking numbers and shipment dates when applicable, be fully transparent in your descriptions, package your items well enough to survive the caring and gentle hands of the postal service, and LEAVE FEEDBACK no matter if you're the buyer or the seller. No, we aren't eBay. But we want everyone to feel comfortable in conducting transactions with one another, and what better way than to leave a righteous high-five in the form of an iTrader Feedback!
—————
Following these five simple rules are all we ask. It's easy. Just be honest, be kind, and use common sense when dealing here on the VAPS forums. The moderators cannot vet every post that comes down the pipeline (nor do we want to) and we rely on you, the community, to keep these forums fair and friendly. If you see something shady, report it to us. Those who continually violate any of these rules may be subject to warnings, infractions, losing privileges to the Trading Post, or ultimately banned from the VAPS forums.
Happy Gaming!
