I am sure some of you remember this abortion that was on ebay a few months back. I was embarrased to say I bought it :) I've wanted a Reactor for a while and they dont come up that often, so I bid on this pig. Needless to say, I was very dissapointed when it arrived. The seller left alot out of the auction as far as im concerned. The original wiring harness was a hacked mess. I was amazed that it worked at all. The monitor was dim and shook, the bottom 2" of the cab had been cut off. There was water damage on the lower 12" and somebody took a belt sander to the whole cab and used fleckstone paint! I can deal with the paint job, I could see that in the pics. Oh, and it had saweet custom side art. The seller agreed to refund me a couple bucks to fix up the cab. Check it out....

Now I didnt take many pics, I was too lazy to walk back to the house to get my camera...more than once :) Anyway, you can see how it turned out. I was able to locate all new reproduction artwork. I added a cooling fan, translucent red trackball powerd from a seperate switching power supply. I added the 2" at the bottom that was missing. I added tha 2" by using a biscuit jointer and building blocks on the bottom for the leg levelers. I was also able to modify an early production Qbert wire harness to a Reactor harness by adding & removing a few wires then repining the edge connector. I got new tinted glass and ditched the scratched up plexi. Much nicer than that crap that was in there. I also popped in a new Vision Pro. It came out really Nice...I dig the music! Fits nicely in Gottlieb Row...

Great, great work. Too bad there aren't more pictures to celebrate the work you did!

I hope you kept the 'original' 8-ball trackball. That would look nice mounted on a trophy stand and placed in your gameroom to commemorate the restoration project.

Looks killer. I'm about to start the same project. You seem to have started with a bit more than I.

Where did you find a cpo?

Takeman, very nice restoration on that Reactor. Talk about night and day difference! I have a Reactor myself and it's a fun and challenging game. The sound effects and the music really make that game.

rm - Looks like you have most of the harness. The cab looks way better than mine. I have over 60 hours in the cab alone, between adding the missing 2" & filling & sanding out the 36 grit belt sander marks.

I got a reply on a RGVAC post for the CPO & marquee....not the cheapest.

Haha, I do still have the "8" ball.

I know about the pics, I hate running back and forth from the house to the shop....quess I am lazy :) I might have a couple early pics, I'll have to look...

I did the same thing on my Satans Hollow that I am finishing up...Only I forgot the before pics :( DOH!

I have seen this restoration in person and the pics don't do it justice. As usual, takeman takes restoration to a whole new level. I had to put sunglasses on the game was glowing so brightly :)

I wasn't sure about the game play, but after he explained it I really enjoyed it. The music and graphics are very cool.

Is this the same as the Reactor game for Atari 2600? Kinda funky...or I just didn't get it. I still played it but...again..not 100% sure HOW to play it :)

So where did you get the side art, cpo ect. Were these repros or NOS? Just curious as I also plan on restoring a reactor eventually.

you son of a ... I can't tell you how much I hate you right now... Not getting personal. .. . :) But why did you buy it all the way from phoenix?

Everything was repro. Nothing was NOS. Keep making posts, people have this stuff tucked away. It may not be cheap, but its out there. There was one guy on RGVAC wo replied that he had all the art for $500. I kept looking and got it cheaper than that.

Good point.
