Alright... my Rush the Rock is losing about .15 volts off the 5vdc line... and i've isolated the problem to the edge connector/harness.

Replacing the whole harness would be quite the bitch (Lots of wires going lots of places)...

...stupid question time...

How hard would it be to re-pin the damn thing? What crimper would I need to do such a job?

I could always go ghetto and splice in a new JAMMA harness end ... but that would be ugly as hell... and a bad hack IMHO.

You should be able to just replace the power and ground pins. It's not hard, it just takes practice to get the old pins out of the connector. Provided, of course, that it's a standard housing, you can get new pins from Bob Roberts, as well as a crimper - the HT-1921 crimper tool he sells is good.

Be sure you also clean the edge connector on the board really well, I use isopropyl alcohol.

i use the legs from a NTE 38 audio amp to stick in the connector and out pops the pin. perfect fit. some use a paper clip but i dont like the roundness of it and it doesnt work as well everytime

radio shack or autozone should have a crimper for 8 bucks but the pins i get from marco if i remember right

it's real easy and you can do it

Paper clip works for me, just place the tip on a hard surface and rap it a few times with a hammer to flatten it out. Lock it in visegrips so there is just enough protruding to unlock the pin, otherwise the paper clip wire will bend. Rebend the pin so it will make good contact with the edge connector, and don't forget to push the locking tab back into position. An exacto knife works for that, even a straight pin is usually too big to fit the slot in the edge connector pin.

I have the pins and I doubt you will find better molex prices out there. I just got in 20,000 of the split pins for edge connectors yesterday. I dont have them listed on the site so pm me if your interested in some.

Didn't Molex just discontinue these connectors and/or pins?

The housings are obsolete, the pins are still available. I picked up a big lot of housings a while back and just bought 4 reels of 5k pins. So yeah, get them while you can.
