RE: Bride of Pinbot Price Check

Hello All,

There is a guy in my area who is selling an unshopped but good working order Bride of Pinbot for $900. I requested pictures, yet if it is in good condition I was wondering if this is a good price?

Thanks all!

I forget exactly what I paid for mine off-route Summer 2008 but it was around $ 800 +/- a few dollars. The machine was in very good working order but needed shopped out bad. It did have cracked ramps that didn't impact play but were cracked nonetheless and replacement ramps aren't cheap. I think I got a good deal considering condition. Best of luck.

Hello all,

Thanks for the replies! I appreciate it!

I have not gotten the pictures yet, but I will let you know when I see them.

I fully understand wanting a particular machine pretty bad. For me it was Back to the Future. I missed a good one somewhat close to me by a day! Darn! They are hard to find, and it took a lot to finally get one. No worries, then on the BoP. I am sure one will come along for you if you keep looking.

Always...

I paid $1,000 for mine, but it was part of a deal that involved several games. Mine is in excellent shape, however. No cracks, teensy tiny bits of wear, and everything is pretty clean.

Bride of Pinbot is my favorite game from the alphanumeric era. It's so fast and it has the best light show of any pinball game out there.

Hello All,

The photos of the machine just came in and I am not the most impressed, yet it is not too bad. You can see the photos at:

http://www.dotphoto.com/MemViewAlbum.asp?AID=6016411

I am especially concerned with the condition of the left side of the backbox, as well as intrigued why there is what looks like an "S" carved into the front of the machine (where the coin mech is). The game, I am told, plays fine and I was considering paying the $900, but after seeing the photos I am not sure it is worth that. What do you all think?

Thanks again, everyone!

I think the cabinet looks to be in above average condition, with most of the reds in the art there, and not completely faded like most of them usually are. The playfield looks to be in decent condition (needs a good cleaning) other than the normal ball swirl/dirt and not too bad of wear by the drops and inserts. The center insert area looks pretty good. The extra holes drilled/screwed by the drain are a bummer though. The shooter lane looks a little rough. The shuttle ramp is cracked as they mostly all are and is normal. You can get a replacement from Mike at MAD amusements.

If it works, and everything is complete (like it looks to be), for $900, I would buy it today if I were you. It's a decent looking domestic machine. I think the things you pointed out aren't that big of a deal. You can easily sell for what paid for the game if later you decide you want to sell it.

I think yours is a good deal in my opinion. Let us know if you get it.

I passed on one this weekend for $500 ...maybe I shoulda grabbed it. My friend drove 2 hrs to check out a bunch of games that were listed on CL...when he got there, the game he wanted was sold, so he called me to see if I wanted him to bring anything back for me. I wanted the BoP for $500..but he made it sound pretty junky. Maybe it wasn't as bad as he was describing...but I wasn't there, so I passed...he brought me back a Joust cocktail though! Yay! :)

Hmm, I don't know. That is in way worse shape than mine, and at only a $100 difference I can't believe you wouldn't be able to wiggle his asking price down another $100 or $200. Those holes drilled between the flippers look like garbage, and there's a lot of wear around the inserts.

Hello all,

Thanks for all the replies! I was not trying to make something out of nothing, yet I just wanted to get opinions on the price. As such, it is truly appreciated.

I am still a bit torn. The seller knows I cannot really pay $900 thus is considering less. We shall see what he decides and I will let you all know!

Thanks again!

Hello again everyone,

Well, the seller of the BoP was very kind and offered it to me for $800. This is still a lot of money for me yet, in light of what I have read and the views of so many, I decided to get the game. :) I am making arrangements to pick it up this Friday.

Thanks again, everyone, as I appreciate all of your time and advice!

Always...

Another question, if I may.

The seller mentioned that the game might need to be shopped and, as noted by many of you, the game needs to be cleaned. I was wondering if this kit would work:

Thanks again

Hey man, it's a great idea to swap out the rubber rings and to clean it up with some Novus, but you can buy what you need MUCH cheaper if you go direct to one of the great pinball parts retailers, like Pinball Life (http://pinballlife.com). If you can hang on a bit I'll give you a full shopping list.

Awesome! Thanks!!! I have used Pinball Life before and they are great! I would love to see your shopping list!

Thanks!

If you're eager to make an order right away, I'd start with these things. This will cover the common things that you will probably need with some extras, but it will allow you to take stock of the more specialized stuff for a follow up order (such as flash bulbs, flipper rebuild kit, star posts, post sleeves, etc.). This list is compiled from Bay Area Amusements. Pinball Life would be a little cheaper, but they don't sell game specific rubber ring kits so I went with BAA for now.

1 The Machine: Bride Of Pinbot Pinball Rubber Ring Kit $15.00
2 Flipper Ring - Standard Red 1 1/2 inch x 1/2 inch $1.60
3 Light Bulb #555 EIKO (box of 10) 24-8768 $9.00
3 Light Bulb #44 EIKO (box of 10) $9.00
1 Novus #2 Fine scratch remover playfield polish (8 oz.) $5.99
1 Novus #1 Plastic Clean & Shine (8 oz spray bottle) $4.99
5 Chrome 1 1/16 Grade 25 (Top Grade) Pinball $9.95
10 1 1/16 Tall Post Sleeve $5.50

Subtotal $61.03

Personally, I'd wait until you get the machine to see exactly what you need. At the very least I'd think you'll need a rubber ring kit (cheaper if you buy individual rings, but for your first time a kit isn't a bad idea), fresh pinballs, Novus #1 and #2, new flipper rubber (may be included in kit), and box of #555 bulbs and a box of #44 bulbs. However, it's not bad to wait until you have the machine at home, fill us in on the details, and we'll help you put together a more exact list.

Hello!

Thank you for the list. I greatly appreciate it. I think, though, that I will take you up on your suggestion and wait a few ays until the machine is home and I can give you a better update with some pictures. Nevertheless, the list is fantastic and I am looking forward to working with it when it is clearer exactly what this machine needs.

Is it Friday night yet? :)

Just did a mega order from pinball life to pimp my pinbot and BOP. 71 pieces :)
Got some rubber ring kits off of ebay because I am not sure which ones I needed.

You need three balls for BOP because if playing two players it will hold one ball sometimes if players are not on the same side of the face.

Congrats on the BOP.

Just last night I was replacing bulbs on my BoP and I realized it was a three ball game and could not figure out what the third ball would be for. Great timing for your post. Thanks.
