Greetings,

I have a few games on which the wood grain vinyl on the sides is peeling back in some places (1-2").

I know it would be best to remove the whole side, and re-apply, but that is amuch bigger job than I want to tackle at the moment.

For now, I'd like to re-glue the peeling vinyl. It is all there, and if re-glued would be OK for now.

My question is, what is the best way to do that?

My first thought was hot glue, but sometimes it does not seem to stick well to some materials.

My second thought was contact cement and a roller.

The particle board underneath is smooth and solid. Maybe too smooth. I was thinking I might rough it up a little bit with some sand paper first.

I figure some of you must have done this before, can you help me?

thanks
tim

I have actually used wall paper adhesive for this. Get the premixed stuff in the tube and make sure to have a squeegie and a damp rag handy to smooth the vinyl and clean the excess. Then get a dry towel and thoroughly dry the area before using masking tape (wrapped from the front and around the edges) to hold the vinyl down while the adhesive cures.

Interesting concept.

I should have mentioned in my post that some if the pieces have warped to some extent after peeling back.

So, I need something really grabby/sticky/tacky that will grab and hold it down.

I have used 3M Super 77 spray. It worked great, although I think that they have a specific spray adhesive for vinyl.

I haven't tried this, but it is for vinyl and seems like it would be the ideal choice, I would suggest this:

3M™ Rubber & Vinyl 80 Spray Adhesive
http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/...0GE3E02LECIE204A00000000_univid=1114284884899

They sell it at Home Depot:

What is good about the 80 Adhesive is that you have 60 minutes before it is set, so you can work it with a J roller.

Edit:
I wouldn't use wallpaper adhesive as it will be susceptible to moisture and temperature changes.

Would the 3M 80 adhesive be good to glue down peeling artwork like original X-MEN artwork?
