Picked up a woodgrain 1981 19" RCA TV on my way to work today. The yoke readings are horizontal 1.5 and vertical 9.5. The yoke is very different from what I'm used to seeing, so I'm sure it will need a yoke swap. Here's the catch, it has a 1" long scratch right in the center of the screen. Is it worth keeping for a tube swap? My Pac and Ms Pac both have terrible burn but nice color. Is it worth doing a tube and yoke swap to replace burn with a scratch? May not be visible behind the smoked plexi, but would be a pain to do the swap, converge the monitor, and then see the scratch in the middle of the screen.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Without knowing anything about the compatibility, if it were me, I would keep looking, for one without a scratch. I've got a small (1/2") scratch in the middle of my big blue monitor. Have accepted it for years, but am now at the point that I'm considering finding a replacement tube.

My $.02.

list the tube number number your talking about.

I saw it at the curb for trash day. I grabbed it without a second glance, good thing too because the trash truck was right behind me. When I finally had a chance to look at it I realized it had knobs. I can't tell you the last time I turned a knob on a TV! That brought back memories of my first job as the tv remote while we ate dinner in front of the TV. Scroll through the normal channels, then switch to "U" to check the odd ball channels. Move the antenna until the picture came in, and turn the volume up. All of this done in a dark wood paneled room with brown shag carpet. Good times, good times!

I had to pay 50 bucks for nice panasonic ctg1000 on eBay its 10 1/2 inch but it's a nice little piece to have. Woodgrain knobs and all. I have most of my classic consoles hooked up to it :) Nice find I wish mine was free but I couldn't find one for like 10 months that was in color.
