Raw Thrills Pac Man LED Desk Clock now 50% off...$39.99!

Just got mine in the mail today. Def a great addition to the gameroom. As everyone has said, be aware that it loses the settings when you unplug it but I plan on leaving it running so no issues here. I think $80 was way too pricey for it but it's worth the $40 investment. Nice and bright LED display, cool animations, and it comes in a nice box. Go grab one and support Eugene Jarvis at Raw Thrills...the guy who made Robotron...nuff said!

Was thinking about getting one of these.
Does it take batteries, or does it have a wall outlet?
If it takes batteries, does it have an adaptor capable of plugging it in?

It also loses time when it's left plugged in, so it needs to be reset quite often. Basically, it's a really cool looking display, as long as you don't actually expect a useful clock.

Plug-in only, no battery.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Does the clock run on batteries? Because of the vibrant high-powered LED's, the clock cannot run on batteries.

Can the clock be hung on a wall? Due to the integrated stand, the clock is not designed to hang on a wall.

What is the operating voltage range? The clock can operate between 100 - 240 VAC.

really? just randomly loses time? Hoping thats a fluke!

How does it reset being plugged in?

I got one of those Pacman clocks. It's a terrible clock. Mine runs fast. It's been on a month and in that time it's now 25 minutes fast. It doesn't have an alarm or any sounds for that matter. How much more would it have cost to put a speaker in the darn thing? The case looks like a speaker was planned as there is a speaker grill for the sound to come out. The RGB LED display and the animations are the only good things about the clock.

BTW - It doesn't run on batteries. It doesn't have a battery backup in case the power goes out. It comes with a an AC adapter. If the power goes out or you unplug the power you have to set the clock again.

My Wiseclock 4 is a much better and more functional clock.

Come on, people!! If the timing is off, that just means you get to replace one of the chips!! We LIVE for that stuff, don't we??

It doesn't completely lose time very often, but the clock accuracy is horrible. I had mine plugged in on the counter, and after about a week, it was off by around 10 minutes. Then a couple weeks later I noticed it was locked up and I had to unplug/replug it.

Didn't they say they were going to release the source for the clock when it came out or am I incorrect?

Mine also has a problem with keeping the time. I'd say after a month it's usually off by 10ish minutes. Never had any crashes though.

I never heard that, though they definitely should... they're probably doing something stupid, like:
Code:
while(1)
{
  update_gfx(); //usually takes around 50ms
  delay_950ms();
  seconds++;
}

Definitely not using an RTC... I've never seen an RTC that couldn't keep decently accurate time over just a few days.

Without seeing this thread I went and ordered one this week since I saw them on sale. It arrived yesterday and doesn't work. Plug it in and the whole display is just scrambled except for once in a while it displays the time. Couldn't get it to do anything. It's already boxed back up with a return shipping label for Amazon and I am just going to skip getting a replacement.

Cool looking clock but after seeing the reviews about it resetting or others about the display crapping out within months, I will spend my $40 elsewhere.

That's it as far as the animations? Pac-Man chases Monsters. Monsters chase Pac-Man. Yet more overpriced entertainment from Raw Thrills...

If you're happy with 2 lame animations, so be it. Personally, they could have been a BIT more creative in that area (like say, showing either Pac-Man or a monster getting eaten, showing Pac-Man eating a bonus item, or how about the game's own intermissions). As someone else mentioned, they could have added a speaker and included music and sound effects from the game. Would have been cool to wake up to that.

Well no chance of that since it's not even an alarm clock. It just tells time, poorly!

I know Amazon's reviews can be somewhat biased, but how does a clock that can't tell time get 4.5/5 stars?
