Got a Rastan on the bench and games goes to attract mode, but doesn't coin up. If I switch some of the DIPS nothing happens such as screen flip.

I try to manually go into test mode and nothing happens. If I put the game in test mode with the dips then nothing appears on the screen.

Any ideas on where to start looking on this?

First things first. Look for gouged or scratched traces.

Next, check for +5v on the dip switch pins and the coin up edge connector pin when they are set to off. If not there then check the resistor packs that tie the lines high. If there, check continuity to the chip buffering the switches - especially the enable lines to those chips.

If the enable signals are missing, follow the traces. You may have a bad chip or a gouged trace.

Thanks, guys. Darren you got it right. The jumper was off, but now I need to fix some other problems.

The first one is I could now coin up the game, start it, and then had 3 quick flashes (like I was loosing a life), and the game was over. I could continue, but each game was literally 2 seconds long.

Any direction on this problem?

Thanks again.

Try putting the dips back to the original positions. *note they need to be changed with the power off.

Test mode should might work now... try it. I think it does an EPROM test (press a button to advance past the monitor test screen).

Put the dips back to normal, and game still won't go into test mode or flip the screen. Game still plays for about three seconds before it "kills" off all the players and ask if I want to continue to player another game.

Checked program ROMs and reburned two of them, but still getting the same problems.
