Rarest game, good & bad

Paddle Battle is pretty rare, but not sure if it's valuable. I mean, it's a Pong clone from the early 70s.... And, at least on mine, the original TV is gone, the coin relay has failed, and I can't test the controls without coining it up.

The PCB works, and I have a spare.... But fat lotta good it does without being able to play it.

I want to know more about your PC Engine jamma adapter.

I was lucky enough to buy a PC engine with Parasol Stars on it, but it wasen´t the HU card version, instead it was a PCB with roms on it... Maybe it was tested this way, like you suggested.... if not, where else would the roms have come from? (maybe some serious hacking has been done, in order to get the roms??)

Interesting. Have you connected this to a JAMMA harness? I'd be curious to see if it can register credits from the coin inputs.

Reactor. Not many were made. Made money but just before other popular games (but not better, IMO) came out. A true masterpiece of game design.

I disagree on that last part. I think it has a fatal game design flaw: there are no ramifications to just holding down the energy button to make yourself bigger and have more mass, and hence reducing the bounce-off effect with the enemies. And holding down the energy button results in a loud, monotonous sound effect that drowns out all of the others as well as the music. One simple change would have introduced risk/reward and better balanced the game play: time-limit the energy button. After seven seconds it overheats and you can't use it for the next seven seconds while you cool down.

Hmmm...

EXPENSIVE X RARE X Not Fun to Play = Original Major Havoc

Must not know how to play it because it is really challenging and fun...and has one of the best looking Cabinets!!!!

that would make it like mad planets with a time-limit on the fire. Try getting to late rounds on that game and do the fire scheme you just described.

Have you played into the invisible wall levels ?
It would make the game more harder than what it is already. that was my point.

And then they'd need to fix that too, and that's exactly my point. It's a flawed game. They didn't spend any time on balancing the game play. It has an obvious flaw right up front that cascades into other issues. If they'd spent 10 minutes thinking about it they could've fixed it. Instead, the "energy" button is pointless. It's just something you hold down all the time and make a racket with a monotonous sound effect.

It's not a bad game; it just easily could have been so much better.

I guess this is where threads like this (see below) come in handy. If you're into modding code..
