Rare Original Release Rev. 1 Mortal Kombat 4 MK4 PCB

I am selling my rev. 1 MK4 4 PCB. This rev. 1 board is the original version released to arcades. It has numerous differences from the last revision, which was rev. 3. Originally, arcades received their MK4 cabinets empty, with the board being shipped to them after the fact, as the game was still being worked on. To upgrade from rev. 1 requires a complete swap of the roms on the board, including a graphic chip swap. Because of this, the chips were swapped out by Midway with the arcades, and Midway disposed of the original rev. 1 roms. The only way to find a rev. 1 board is if the operator never upgraded it, which is very rare as the game is not finished and early cheats and bugs in the game allowed knowledgable players to exploit it, which cut into earnings. The rev. 1 version of the game is very different. Here are some of the differences...

-Character select screen is different
-Some characters are different or missing (ie Noob Saibot, Johnny Cage, Jax and Reiko)
-No voiceover during Raiden gameplay intro
-No character endings
-Many move lists for characters are different
-No character stories
-Very limited fatalities
-Very limited weapons
-Some different character weapons
-Gameplay bugs for more damage and longer combos
-No boss
-Plus many more

This is a true collector's item you don't see many of. I am asking $175 shipped for the PCB. If anyone has any questions, please let me know. Paypal is fine.

Price reduced on this. I know Pengo's board went for $200 BIN on eBay awhile back, but I would really love to avoid dealing with eBay. How about $175 shipped for this? Let me know if you are interested.

Mk 4 version upgrade

I have revision 2 and was wanting to see how to upgrade to revision 3 do you have any tips? Is it a Rom swap out or an upgrade via the serial port on the board?

You brought this thread back from the dead. The original post is from 5 years ago. To answer your questions version 2 can be upgraded to version 3 by switching two roms ( u10 and u11). If you can't burn your own eproms there are many guys on here that can do it for you at a small fee.
