Rare NOS Nintendo Playchoice Kit For Red Tent(Updated)

I won this and am now selling it because I have decided I'm not getting a Red Tent to install it on anytime soon.

This is the ultimate (and only) Nintendo hardware upgrade for your Red Tent!

According to the manual, you install this on the underside of your Red Tent cab. The pcb cage, or case rather, can house 2 populated Playchoice 10 pcbs! So if you already have a PC10 single monitor pcb, you can use that in addition to the one included in the kit. You can only have one PC10 pcb plugged into the harness at any time though. So there is no 20-game menu setup. The vs. pcb stays plugged-in inside the Red Tent and is separate from this.

To describe the kit further, you'll need to raise the legs on your Red Tent to install it. It has a separate power supply for the PC10 that plugs into the main power supply of the Red Tent. You have to remove both monitors to access the inside of the cab so you can install the mounting screws for the PC10 case, power supply and harness.

(EDIT/Update: When using the PC10 kit, you can't play 2-screen vs. games until you reconnect the disconnected vs. harness audio, video, coin, and controller connections on the PC10 side of the Red Tent.)

It has everything included in the original kit, but I'm keeping one of the keys, in case I ever do get a Red Tent and it has no key. The pcb case only has one key lock anyway. I'm asking $260 plus shipping.

If you want this and you're going to CAX maybe I can ask tronguy to bring it to you so you can save on shipping that way.

I'll take paypal as gift payment or you can cover the paypal fees if you want.

That looks awesome. What I dont' understand is though that every Red Tent I've had when you plug in a Vs. board with only one side populated, it really doesn't like it. It shakes and everything.

I really wish I had that kind of money. To miss out on it twice sucks more than missing out on it once, at auction... lol.

I just did that last night. It gave a continuous coin up sound until after I installed a second CPU and PPU. I still only had one set of roms in it, though.

Unplug the monitor and possibly speaker from the side you aren't using and I imagine this problem won't happen.

Sounds like the alarm on SMB. All you need is a CPU on the upper side... or a jumper in the CPU spot.

for the record I can haul this to CAX if someone wants it.

xarcade am I hauling a game back from cax for you?

Yes you can still play 2-screen vs. games with this kit!

Update for all of you who were bummed when I said no more 2-screen vs. games like Balloon Fight, Baseball, or Tennis.

After thinking about this dilemma, and then reading the manual again to confirm the connection setup, I think it's safe to say that you can still play the 2-screen vs. games!

Just disconnect the audio, video, coin, and control harness connections of the PC10 harness and re-connect the vs. harness connections that you disconnected when you installed the PC10. Easy fix!

The manual is just being too general when saying the 2-screen vs. games won't work. So, of course, with the PC10 using one side of the Red Tent, and that half of the vs. harness unplugged, 2-screen vs. games won't happen. But reconnect that half of the vs. harness and your back to head-to-head competition!

The other screen will be whatever vs. game you have installed on the vs. pcb.

The PC10 pcb is housed separately on the bottom of the Red Tent while the vs. pcb remains in its normal slot inside the cabinet.

Both pcbs use their own wiring harness. One for each side. But the half of the vs. control harness that was originally plugged in at the PC10 side will remain unplugged when the PC10 harness is in use. To have vs. games on both sides again, disconnect the PC10 control harness and reconnect the unplugged vs. harness on the PC10 side.

FINALLY... after hours of searching, I ran across these great morsels of information. I was testing a new set of Tetris roms in half of my red tent yesterday, and the game was shaking pretty good. Turns out it's b/c I only had half of the vs board populated.

Tonight I'll populate the other half of the board and see if the shakes go away.
