Rare laser disc SHATTERED

File the SNAD claim with PayPal and go from there. You will get stuck paying the return shipping unless the seller is smart enough to understand it is in his best interest to refund you the return shipping costs.

Just out of curiosity, does this seller seem to primarily deal with arcade equipment / parts?

He refunded my money this morning including shipping costs. I opened a CLAIM which pissed him off but he did refund my money.

I think he deals with a lot of game equipment:

Whatever the case, he did refund the money in FULL so the only thing he is guilty of is a negligent packaging job. I dont care about the lost money as much as I care that there is now one less Us vs Them disc in existence. Such a shame...

I know nothing of lasers, but with todays technology isn't that something that can reproduced in the thousands if wanted?

They did do a run of repro Dragon's Lair discs some time ago...

But I think they have to get the permission of the people that hold the rights to the discs to do so. That's the legal way to do it... as far as I'm concerned... they should all be reproduced in small batches to keep the games alive... LD's don't last forever, eventually all of them WILL rot and they'll just cease to exist.

Not the big laser disks. If it is CD sized you have a chance, but the 12" platters, when they're gone, they're gone.

There are times when I wish (like many here) to be able to reach through the screen and remove these idiots from the gene pool, when they do stupid sh*t like this. They are only polycarbonate not adamantium. Given have a chance they will shatter just like glass bezels and marquees when shipped in a folded over cardboard box. Stupidity and or laziness.

I was talking to a friend about the repro'd DL disc he got... said when he got it the post office had set something on the shipping package and had pretty much bent the disc at a near 45 degree angle. The new discs were made out of different stuff than the originals, so he was able to set it between some heavy boxes in in about a week or so, it flattened itself back out and worked perfectly. Again, that's according to him... so don't quote me on that.

Either way, most of this stuff is backed up via Daphne... and when the time comes, I'm sure there will be people lining up to get the games "reprinted".

Picture of the repro'd DL disc... I couldn't find the picture of one still in the package. But, like I said... they're out there and I have a feeling they'll all be repro'd before too long... I hope.

Still a shame to see an original disc like that turned into modern art because of a sellers stupidity.

What the hell is up with the $18.99 for shipping? Damn those things must be heavy.

And then usedc 18 cents worth of packing material... so lame

I had a guy send me a SFII Pcb in a Large flat rate box - in a single bubble-wrap bag (and all the bubbles were popped) it was just loose knocking around inside the box!

suprisingly enough it worked

I dont know what the hell the deal is with overpriced shipping on ebay. I have my eye on a PCB that I've been looking for but the guy wants $35 for frickin shipping which is bullshit.

Yeah, there was a guy on here that did a big bulk PCB sale... but wanted 19.99 shipping on every board and wouldn't combine shipping... I don't think many people from here dealt with him because of that crap. He had SEVERAL boards I wanted, but I refuse to pay 19.99 shipping, for each item, when 2-3 of the board would EASILY fit in an $11 flat rate box... with good padding.

That said, LD's are big... and shipped properly, would probably run about what he asked for shipping... but $19 for shipping and it to be packaged like it was, that's just robbery and I'd've still reported him to eBay for overcharging for shipping.

Sellers are trying to save a few pennies from the ebay monster. Big deal. Does it make much difference to you if you buy at $50.00 + $30.00 shipping or $70.00 + $10.00 shipping? It all comes to $80.00.

I wonder if there's a way to make an adaptor to use laser disc videos ripped to one of the new SSD drives? Not cheap but in theory it would certainly be a lot more reliable than those aging LD players. I know people have done it for hard drive-based games like Area 51, but of course those are file based and not video.

I always think the seller it trying to dupe the buyer when the overcharge for shipping. Example, here is the Tonka toy I got for $1.50.....Oh wait, it's $50.00 to ship! Ebay was trying to stop this practice but I don't really think they care less when they get a cut.....

They did cut it back some by putting the shipping costs right into the search pages, and you can report folks for inappropriate shipping now. It's definitely better these days than it once was, but there's still a lot of jokers who think it's OK to rape you on the shipping.

I have bought several LD's and they were shipped in a record type mailer for way less than $19.00. I am thinking $5.00 or so.

All discs survived.
