Hello to all,
Just brought a rapid fire game home. It was doa on arrival. Found that it has a blown fuse on the power module board. It's the f4 fuse. When replaced it blows again! This is my first game like this. Any ideas? Just thought I would ask. Thanks to all for looking!

Ok so I get one flicker flash then 5 flashes after that on the mpu board. Every time the f4 blows. I'm thinking it's a power issue. Any help?

Could it be the Bally transformer assembly As-3071-2 ???

Am I just talking to myself?? Lol

Its probably not the transformer. Try disconnecting the connectors that go to the solenoids on the playfield and see if the fuse still pops.

Only one big solenoid and I did un-hook it. Also one on the coin door and I unhooked that one also? I hate to part this thing out. It would be cool to see it working. Any more help?

Ok so if I unhook the j5 from the transformer to the power module board, and stick a new fuse in f4 on the power module it will not blow. Transformer?

If you look at the solenoid driver board, you will see one transistor with a massive heat sink on it. This is the driver that fires the gun. I'd suspect it's probably shorted and needs to be replaced. Been a while since I had my Rapid Fire...but that's where I'd start.

actually..if you want to see if that's it for certain, remove it from the driver board and see if the fuse still blows.
