RANT: itrader feedback

I'll probably get flamed for saying this, but I think it is worth mentioning.

I don't really see any value in the existing system. People quite often don't leave negative feedback when they should (myself included), and that makes the system useless.

I know many times I have heard someone (several different people) say they didn't leave negative feedback when they should have, due to being afraid of return negative feedback or flaming or other reasons.

In my own case, I have personally had dealings with 2 very well known and respected "dealers" here who SERIOUSLY jerked me around and were just awful from the beginning to the end, including just blatantly lying to me and stealing my money.

They had no excuse at all and I had to threaten one of them with paypal action if he didn't return money he promised me and then just never gave me for no reason at all after being repeatedly reminded for weeks.

I chose not to leave negative feedback for these guys because I didn't want return feedback, and I didn't want all the people who are always praising them telling me what good guys they are, etc. I just put them on my blacklist and moved on. Neither of them have any negative feedback...how many people do? I think an unrealistically low number.

For this reason, I never look at people's feedback when assessing a potential deal. I only avoid the very well known and publicized scammers.

Just my $.02.

PS I do submit feedback regularly, but only positive. I'm part of the problem, and know it.

...please don't take offense to this... but...

Come on man, grow a pair.

If someone screws me. I let folks know about it. SURE, I work with the vendor/seller first... but if I ultimately get screwed, I sure as hell have ZERO problem letting people know and leaving bad feedback. Here... ebay... anywhere. It's a disservice to the community to do otherwise.

The key is to not come unglued first... but do your best to work with the vendor. If, ultimately, you still feel screwed... let people know. That simple.

BTW - If you leave legitimate negative feedback and the seller retaliates with negative feedback, you CAN discuss the situation with the administrator here. He's been known to remove retaliatory feedback...

FWIW ... as a SELLER ... you should leave positive feedback as soon as you get your dough. Bottom line, at that point, the buyer has fulfilled his/her end of the deal. I try to leave feedback as buyer/seller every time. I am sure I've screwed up here or there... but for the most part, I follow through.

Yikes, I just realized I've sold a shit-ton of keys the past few weeks that I owe feedback on.

I honestly don't even check a seller's feedback or care if anybody leaves me feedback as a buyer (if you got paid for the item, what else matters? Ship it.)

I didn't even know how the feedback thing worked here until this morning. Its kind of buried in the menus.

.

...and when you do, you can expect a fallacious negative feedback in return (or in my case several dozen) that mclemore won't do a damn thing about even years after that asshole who left it is dead...
