Has anyone picked up Randy Fromm's CD-Rom?

"The entire contents of Randy Fromm's Big Blue Book of Really Great Technical Information (4th edition) PLUS full-resolution scans of all the schematic diagrams contained in the Big Green Book of Monitor Schematics."

I'm just wondering if it is worth the $99 (if it has extra info that's not in the Blue or Green books). I was wondering if it may not just be a copy of everything he had in the now defunct tech department. Anyone have any feedback?

Thanks!

I don't know - never seen it... Never seen any of Randy's stuff. But all the monitor schematics you could ever want are already online. As are pretty much all the game schematics. Frankly, the video game schematics available online has been fantastic - I also collect old computers, and finding documentation for some of that stuff is nearly impossible. But the wealth of archived game information is stunning. It's great to be able to quickly and easily pull up the schematic for just about anything. Makes repairing things a heck of a lot nicer.

I have his whole set plus the blue book and the schematic book. The schematic book is very helpful since you can just flip to the page and its there in a larger format than you can print off the computer.

The Blue book is good too. A lot of info in there.

His classes are good but pretty dated. Good if you repair older games, though. I do wish that he would record new versions of all his classes. He explains things in pretty simple terms that is great for beginners.

Thanks guys - I'm pretty much sold on the material as I have heard nothing but good things on the curriculum (other than that it's dated). I'm just wondering if the CD-Rom he is advertising is worth it or not. It seems a bit silly to sink money in a CD-Rom, if all it has is a soft copy of the blue and green books. Now, if it had additional information or a wealth of additional knowledge not found in the books, then that's a different story.

I'm curious too. I have the blue book, and wouldn't mind having it on my iPad. . .curious how well it's formatted, etc.

Just FYI, I did send a quick e-mail to Randy about it, and basically what he said is that both the Blue and Green books are on the CD-Rom in PDF format, and also the Tech Dept in HTML format.

Excellent! Can't wait!

Been listening to the DVDs in the background while working. Good stuff!

Are there any examples of his stuff anywhere written or video online to preview?
