I'm looking to get the Big Blue & Big Green books from Randy - has anyone gotten the CD version? Are the scans on the schematics sufficient quality (the ones he has posted on his site sure are)? What file format is the Blue Book in?

I'd rather have them on CD, and print out the few pages I need now and then, rather than have big books on my shelf that I only ever open twice a year. But I want to make sure the schematics and charts are all readable OK, and that it's a format that I'll be able to deal with down the road (I'd feel stupid to not pay the extra to get the physical book, and then have trouble with the file formats on the CD in a few years!)

Any one tried the CD version?

I have the pdf versions of both. I haven't tried zooming in on the schematics in the Green Book much, as I either have hard copies already or I can find the schematics online. I think there are a few schematics in there that are difficult to find, but not sure if they are all not already duplicated elsewhere.

I'll check my copy when I get home. If the schematics are perfectly legible, then you might as well just sign up to his site and download the books. You can also download a bunch of podcasts about power supply rebuilds, capacitors, etc.

The Blue book has all the flowcharts in it, and they come in handy, especially for some of the models like the Hantarex Polo or K7500...

I got the PDF from Randy and they are fine....and the book is actually a good read. I printed mine and then had it bound at office depot for about 3 bucks

I wouldnt give that guy a penny do yourself a favor and search him on here first.

Oh, I've been reading about him - that's what put his name back into my head. And the description of the DVDs someone gave made me re-think my original thought of getting those.

I'm still thinking the reference works could be worth having. We'll see, I now have to get some trees removed from the yard (leaning after Irene) so I don't have the money today anyway - I'll see what other say about the quality and go from there.
