I picked up a complete DVD set and then some of the Randy Fromm
Arcade School DVD series about 6 months ago. I 've pretty much
learned all I am going to from them so I figured I'd hook someone
else up.

DVDs included:

Switching Power Supplies (Peter Chou style)
Videogame Conversions
Classic Monitor Repair Disk 1
Classic Monitor Repair Disk 2
Classic Monitor Repair Disk 3
Basic Pinball PCB Repair
Basic Video game Troubleshooting
How to use an Oscilloscope
Semiconductors Disk 1
Semiconductors Disk 2
Beginning Electronics Disk 1
Beginning Electronics Disk 2
Linear Power supplies

I also picked up another dvd from him - XY Monitors
I am throwing in.

This is a super fast way to jumpstart your arcade repair skills.
All original DVDs in great shape, ready to play...

They normally run $300+ shipping. Randy gave me a real good deal
on them so I'll pay that forward...

$125 shipped. *** Sold Pending Payment ***

Well, this listing puts an end to my special kLOV offer.
My kLOV offer to sell at 150 is ended now.

No one is allowed to re sell anything originally purchased from just you? Once they are done watching/using them they should hold on to them forever or toss them out? I realize that you are giving a great discount on a great product for KLOV members, but why take this action? Continue with a special price for KLOV current and future members, but add a stipulation to the sale that they cannot be re sold through this forum or Ebay etc. Or something along that line - just an idea, that would provide sales to you and great information to new people getting into this hobby.

Just my thoughts,

mh

Thats a shitty business practice. Once you buy the dvds they are yours do do as you please.

This is like the current gaming companies trying to make it impossible to resell used games.

Wow... I missed even seeing a special 150 KLOV price. Did this include the blue book or was it just the DVD set?

I have been wanting to buy the set from Randy for a long time, I was just waiting until I had the time to really go through the material...

Wow. Serious dick move there, Randy. You cancel your "special" that none of us knew about, and for what, because someone resold USED DVDs that MAY have scratches on them for a whole $25 less than what you were selling them for? Seriously dude, what did you expect him to do, ask MORE than the price he paid for them? I understand that it must have taken some time to make these DVDs, but I honestly can't see justification for asking $300...or even the $150 "special" that you have now cancelled. I mean really, it costs you all of like $10 in supplies to burn a set since you have the master files on your computer. If you sold these for $25 a pop, I guarantee you'd make a HELLUVA lot more money than you do by asking $300 or even $150.

No offense, but I think I'll just stick to the thousands of FREE tutorials and websites on the internet, thanks.

Randy,

You gotta be kidding me. I bought those from you over 6 months ago.
and I sold them for less then I paid you on purpose. I could see you getting
upset if I bought them, copied them quickly, and flipped them on here or sold bootleg
copies, or sold them for more then I paid for them to make a profit but I didnt.

I watched them, learned what I could from them and decided I no longer
needed them so I sold them. What am I supposed to sit on them forever?
You have to be kidding me. That Causes you take away a discount in place
for other klov members?

Mike

Can you burn me a set?
Sorry, can't do that to Randy.

In light of Randy's post, have you reconsidered that? ;)

I'm joking of course. But it's too bad that someone so highly respected is apparently clueless when it comes to doing business with the hobbyists who support him.

I'll bet it was the 'joke' about burning a free set that has pissed him off. That would piss me off if I made and sold DVDs of my work.

If I had known about the KLOV discount I would have bought a set a long time ago. No it looks like I will never be able to buy a set as a KLOV member.

The first-sale doctrine is well established in the United States. It has been recognized by the U.S. Supreme Court since 1908 and it was codified by Congress in the Copyright Act of 1976, which remains the primary basis for copyright law in the U.S. today. Original poster bought a legal copy from you? He has every right to resell that copy to someone else at any time he chooses, and for any amount he can get for it.

Randy...what exactly are you mad about? Him offering them for $125? Did you tell anyone who bought your discs before hand that if they decide to sell them later on down the road they shouldn't sell them for less than they paid for them? It's not like he has 10 sets or whatever and he is trying to under cut you or something? This is one set that's used? I really don't think you should get that bent out of shape over it...is there more to this?

Also...what does one set for sale, even if it was at $50, have to do with the rest of the people on KLOV? If someone gets a set cheaper than you are selling them for, its only going to be one person out of how many people here?

Another thing you might want to consider is that a lot of people probably didn't even know about your DVD's until this posting...which I didn't myself. I think you would have done better to just come in here and say "Hey that's a great deal for someone, if anyone else needs a set I have KLOV special for $150 off my normal $300 price"...you might have actually sold a few sets.
