Been awhile since I discussed my kid and arcade games. I have two recent observations I'll share.
On the rivet stage on Donkey Kong, it drives my kid nuts that I don't collect the purse at the bottom of the girders. Drives her nuts. She asks me about it each and every time I'm on that level. My answer is that it is not part of my pattern.
Well, since my kid is just under 6 years old, she has pretty good DK skills, but she has not developed her own patterns. This doesn't stop her from telling me, when she gets the purse on the rivet level, that getting the purse is part of her pattern. She says it with pride, as though she really has a pattern and she is proud of it.
The other observation is when we were at the grocery store the other day. We walked into the frozen section and she whined "I don't like the cold level." So, she sees things in real life as "levels". Problem?
