Rampart good?

I know a lot of folks like it as a multi player game. I've heard it said it's not so great as a 1 player. Personally I've played it with multi players and don't care for it.

I love three player competition. There's a ton of strategy to how you destroy your opponents walls, and how you build, and repair your own. When you win, you chop off your opponents head in a guillotine by spinning your trakball down.

yeah. Basically you build a wall around your castle. Place cannons inside that wall then fire. Repeat over and over until only one person's castle is left.

Interesting.

OoOw, Decapitation. Cold. :)

It's one of my favorite multiplayer games. The 3P trackball version is the way to go. There's a harder to find 2P joystick version, which is fun, but the 3P makes you play completely different (teaming up, trying to take out two opponents, etc.). Vs the computer isn't nearly as much fun as multiplayer.

Those 2P versions rare for a reason! The 3P trackball's sound like they kick butt.

Fun game for sure. More strategic than most. Multiplayer is the way to go.

I play a joystick 2 player version on the cabinet with MAME, and it is hard as hell to place the castle pieces accurately. Trackball is the way to go.

The 2 player joystick version blows compared to the 3 player trackball version. I paid 400 for mine and would do it again in a heartbeat. Very underrated game and a blast at parties.

I totally agree on the 2P being weak compared to the 3P, but since I don't have space for a 3p cab, the lil bastard will do in my JAMMA cab until some other day...

Or Rampart bad? Atari, 1990, Tetris-ish and 3 player game that looks kinda promising. Looks like a fun game I'd want too get. But, my perspective may be out-of-whack. Your opinion on it of those of you who have played/not played it?

I picked one up recently, been looking for one for a while. Its an atari drawer cabinet(best cabinet ever!). I am pretty sure the base cabinet wiring is standard jamma(have not tested it yet). It would make a great generic jamma cabinet.

I have spare pit fighter control panel tops and the plan is to make custom control top for other games. Its a bolt on top so you can just go with a hunk of wood and make your own tops.

As for the game, its pretty challenging(for me). My brothers kids dig it and play it at cax all the time. Get it if you can. not an easy find (3 player)..

If you have the chance to get one, go for it! If it is the 2 player joystick version, you should be able to get it cheaper (but it is not as fun as the trackball version).

Definitely a good game, in either case. The multi-player aspect is awesome.
