Rampage Restoration

Ahahahahahaha, to me they are, but it seems not many people use the "New Posts" button, instead choosing to wade through thread after thread in each individual forum, missing most of what goes on here daily. I just feel like I am talking to myself lately. I guess once the money shot pics are here I can post in the General section, linking to this thread. I am just tired of doing all this work and documenting it, and no one really sees it in these sub forums. Then when they restore a similar machine, they blindly ask all the same questions that are usually answered in these threads. Oh well. Waaah waah waah, look at me, look at me.

I use the 'New Posts' button all the time. It's the only way I read the forums. As far as I'm concerned there really arent't any subforums, just one long list of posts. :)

FWIW I've been watching your posts and I for one commend you. The Rampage I'm working on is not anywhere NEAR as nice as yours. Well...my art might be better than yours right now. ;)

OT (but who cares, really?):

I will admit, though, it can be overwhelming. When I first migrated over here from the BYOAC forums I was a bit taken aback by the sheer volume of posts to keep up with. Now I've sort of coped a bit. In fact, I can keep up with this forum, my rec.groups feeds, pinball bash, BYOAC, Craigslist feeds, etc.

Of course, getting any actual WORK done is another matter. :D

could be worse you could be the the restoration showcase sub :D

but even in general there are crickets to be heard from time to time
as I vaugly recall somethig about a rockola cpo thread

but looks like your about ready fro vinyl.
you gonna clear coat or prime that wood right tonto?

It's already clear coated, Bone Ranger.

Updates. Got the bondoing finished, sanded the whole thing down with 220 and spray painted the inner edges black. Also shot 2 coats of clear coat on the sides. Getting closer to vinyling.

Thanks guys for the new post tip. I didn't even notice it till you said something. Another noob takes a step closer to forum master!

That's a nice job you're doing on this cab. Reading threads like this with lots of pictures inspires me to attempt stuff.
I just started using bondo last night on a corner for the first time. It's just like everyone says, that stuff is amazing.
I want to see what this looks like with the new artwork on it!

Mad Bondo skillz on those corners. With such big chunks missing, did you have to do anything to reinforce them? Like screws or whatever to give the Bondo something to grab onto? Or is it fairly sturdy without it?

Here you go...

I also used about 2-3 screws per corner as rebar, and there is another screw as rebar in the back edge of the cabinet

Doused the filthy monitor in Simple Green and hosed her down in the driveway.

that monitor looks beautiful. i just did the same to a g07 on tuesday, came out looking immaculate.

to those that are nervous about doing it - it's really easy to do, like phet said. just tape over the anode hole, and don't scrub off the aquadag. let it dry in the sun, and put a fan or compressed air on it to make sure you get any water out that's stuck under the yoke. i think mine only dried for 3-4 hours before i had it up and running in my pac.

this thread needs less talk more restore. phet your taking to long as usual.

Just wanted to say that I have been waiting for about 3-4 weeks for the vinyl and artwork to finish this machine. I would love to finish it and get it into the gameroom, but can't do anything until my supplies arrive. It has also been raining for 6 days straight here, which kinda puts a damper on any sanding or painting, so starting a new project is also out of the question. It's the waiting that kills you.

Your restoration threads are the best, I find myself chomping at the bit for the next update! They really inspire me!

what kind of vinyl artwork are you getting - full vinyl sideart for the stripes and logo, or some kind of stencil to repaint, or something else? I'm really hoping to pick up a Rampage cab soon, and just curious what people do to clean them up / restore them.

Baah, after my Pac Man restoration fell apart I'm not really feeling inspired any more. I have also been waiting extra long on parts and artwork on these last few restorations, as either the artwork isn't done, is out of stock or the sellers are too busy to get it out to me. Kinda souring me to the whole restoration thing, as I only really have this summer to finish as much as I can, then baby # 3 will be here, and my wife will give me zero garage time after that day comes. I have 11 total projects, counting the 2 I mentioned (Pac and Rampage), and was really hoping to get it down to 5 before then. That's 4 more games after these 2. At this rate, I'll be lucky to get these 2 finished.
