I've been working with @Arcade game to get Rampage working with JAMMA and we're almost done but we have one final problem.

All of the sound effects seem to work apart from the little jingle that plays when you start a game - I can't tell if any others are missing but I think it's the only one.

I've tried with two separate Rampage main PCBs and two separate Sounds Good boards - with the same results.

Looking at the label on the Sounds Good EPROMS - it says revision 2.

From looking at MAME - both revision 2 and revision 3 have the jingle when you start the game.

When I press the red button on the Sounds Good board - it plays sounds but no music.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Mark

It's wired straight into the jamma mono board

Nice! what did you do for video sync?

I'm planning to write up what we did for this once I have it 100% working - that was probably the most challenging one that we have worked on.

Like kaboom1701 asked, some jamma harness are mono setup and some have the extra 2 wires for stereo speakers, does that jamma adapter have mono output or stereo output, could be missing 1 channel on that adapter

On the Sounds Good board

J3 Pin 2 is unamplified left audio
J3 Pin 3 is unamplified right audio
J3 Pin 4 is audio gnd

I hooked those up to a small amplifier and the same sound appears to play out of each channel, so I figure it's probably more of a 'bimono' than stereo sound.

In the setup that @KaBoom1701 has and the official setup they go to a Midway power amp or power amp with mixer but I think they're just amps like any other - On YouTube I've seen them hooked up to computer speakers in the past and the jingle plays fine.

On the jamma connection board is that from arch rivals? The audio wires are they connected to J10? Arch rivals shows mono connections with pin 1+ 2 positive jumpered under board and pin 3+ 4 negative jumped under board so you will only receive mono sound if that is where your left and right speakers wires are coming from the dual amp board to J10 on jamma connection board, have you connected speakers directly from the output on the dual amp board and see if you have both sounds

From the Sounds Good Board

I have connected Pin 2 (unamplified left audio) and Pin 3 (unamplified right audio) and Pin 4 (audio gnd) to a 3.5mm TRS male (headphone) connector - from there it goes into a small amp and stereo speakers. This is in place of a 'Dual Power Amp' or 'Dual Power Amp with Mixer'. I get sound out of both speakers but it sounds like the same sound from both speakers.

I have connected the Sounds Good board in my Spy Hunter, which uses Pins 6 & 7 on J3 for audio out and I get exactly the same results when I press the red test button on the Sounds Good board (sound effects play but no 'jingle'. It seems like the Cheap Squeak Deluxe and the Sounds Good Board are mostly pin compatible at least on the power and output sections. I do not know if it is the same or similar to Arch Rivals.
