Ramco Final Blow in Dynamo Cabinet- Upside Down Monitor image?

I I have a Final Blow that is working just fine. The existing board displays correctly and I am really impressed with how the dynamo cabinet is designed. It is the smaller display with a 19" monitor and 23.5" angled cp.

When I swap out a jamma board, the display is upside down.

I have tried 3 different boards and each time the display is upside down.
When I put the Final Blow back in, it displays correctly.

What can I do?

Thanks,
Chris

There might be on the monitor board a black plug with a a red green blue yellow wire ans right beside it is another set of pins the plug will fit.
If you plug this onto the other pins the image flips 180.
Learned this the hard way when I was hooking up my mvsc LOL

Be sure to power off before messing with around in there!

Dr Zero - thanks!

I will try this when I get home.

Also, thanks for your site on the dynamo.
Even though Final Blow is not a game that my family likes much, I really like its dynamo cabinet.

The more I work on my other cabinets the more I appreciate how the dynamo is designed. It is the HS-1 and I see that there are 2 style control panels initially offered.

Mine has what looks to be the universal, but does not have any extra holes - just the 3 buttons for each player.

I think someone on this forum had a couple dynamo universal cp's for Sale - do you know if this cp would allow adding a trackball?

Thanks again,
Chris

you probably have a wells slim mount k7000 monitor in there. The dynamo cabs are made to make rotating the monitor easy. The slim mount monitor keeps the frame from hitting the back door when you rotate.

The k7000 has only 1 yoke connection on the pcb. your going to need to cut the connector in half and flip 1 of them around to flip the picture. here is what you need to do.

You are welcome!

They were made to be universal cabs so vendors could swap out without too much fuss.
A track ball should fit just measure for the right size, I dont remember off hand the size that fits.

Look on the underside of the cp there might be more holes they are just covered right now.

If you're switching out JAMMA games, most likely theres a dip switch setting on the pcb. Try that before swapping yoke wires...

Well yeah you can go the easy route LOL

I looked up final blow and didnt see a dip but he is right on the others there probably is, sometimes the simplest things get over looked.

Thanks....still have questions

Doc - I looked but did not find another 4 pin connector.

Where would I find the monitor "flip" on the game boards?

Last resort is to either turn the monitor or try to rewire...

I am really thinking of converting this to a multigame for games that are best played with trackball and maybe set up another cp with joystick or steering wheel.

So, next projects are figuring out how to install joystick, trackball, and/or steering and gas/brake/shift.....

Anyone convert one of these panels that does not have the "swiss cheese" button options?

Chris

You need to look at the dip switch settings for the games you want to play.

the problem is, I am pretty sure your monitor is wired for upside down. Not every jamma board has a flip dip switch. so eventually you need to deal with the yoke wires.

Hey Jason - its me the guy from Jersey City who got the 4 cabs from you....

Thanks for the games and referring this site!

I have been busy learning about how to work on these games and have really enjoyed the whole process.

What are the games you want to swap out?
I will check em for you if you want.

Here is link to show more about dip switches http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DIP_switch

Here a list of boards and the dip settings http://www.mikesarcade.com/cgi-bin/spies.cgi?action=info

Mrbill has got a good point and link might want to print that one out

Thanks Guys...

Ok been busy tonight.

The dipswitch listings is a great reference!

I checked all the dip switch settings - turns out the monitor is upside down.

I did not know how to get the Final Blow to test screen - once I set the switch - test screen was upside down!

So, next I go to the site showing how to split the 4 color wire plug and try flipping them around. I cut the plug, flipped the wires - but the only effect was colors were off.
Put the plugs back in to original position and colors are fine.

I did a horrible job cutting this plug and will now need to ask how to remove and rewire this type of plug(molex?).

The learning continues: I am sitting here once again asking for help - do I flip the monitor or any other suggestions?

Thanks again for your help - cool thing about this forum is that you are teaching me how to do all these things.

A couple of weeks ago I was really intimidated by anything more than replacing a couple of buttons - now I am pulling boards, rewiring, adding volume controls, adding push buttons in coin doors....how awesome is that!

A virtual round of drinks for all!

hmmm I will defer on the plug that is one Im still learning on.

As far as rotating the monitor if you d/l the manual it shows how to do it dynamo made them to be vertical or horizontal just watch wire lengths and bumping the tube.

but couldnt you just switch the dip on the boards that have it as a option?

Yes there is some great info to be found here I never stop learning

Doc...

Switching the dips is how I figured the monitor is probably upside down...

When I switch them, the only one that displays right side up is Final blow, the others start upside down, but then flip over for the second player.

I looked a the cabinet and it seems the monitor is held in place in the corners with screws.
I think I can bribe a friend to help hold it while I flip it 180.

Any other suggestions? I can post pics if that helps...

Go ahead and post some pics of the monitor board so the experts can chime in on the yoke plug issue.

I would rotate the tube as a last resort.

Hang in there!

Yep, these are easy peasy to rotate, but as Doc stated, before you do anything make sure to disconnect any wiring going to the monitor and be VERY careful with the tube neck.

The wood frame that the monitor is attached to is -- as you've noted -- attached to the cabinet with 4 screws in each corner. Remove the screws, pull the monitor straight out, and rotate as desired. Having a buddy there to help is always a plus. Good luck!

flipping the yoke wires should not have any effect on the colors. Your flipping the x and y axis.

if you had any effect on the colors, then you were messing with the video wires. find the yoke(not the neck board). Follow the wires to where it connects to the monitor board.

If the screens are flipping over for player 2, then the board is set to "cocktail" mode. There should be a dip switch or menu option for "upright".
