I was wondering what you guys use to remove RAM or other chips from a socket or holder? Can you just put a small screwdriver under the chip and pry it upward or is there some trick to this so that you don't bend the legs? Some of those can be pretty hard to remove, so what do you guys do?

Yeah. Little screwdriver, lever up gently.

They sell IC pullers - but they suck. More often then not, you wind up ripping the thing out crooked and bending the heck out of the last two legs.

Screwdriver method is nice and easy.

I usually sorta press down on the chip as I'm removing it to help keep it even as it lifts, if not you'll get a buncha bent legs.
