I had gotten this email earlier this morning and was wondering if anyone else had seen it:

Hi xxx,

As a recent customer of Ram controls I am sending you this email to ask for your help. As you may or may not know I took over the operation of Ram Controls on March 15th 2011 from David Adams, the company founder. Due to a number of personal issues he was not able to give Ram Controls the attention it deserved and in some cases customers had placed orders that were not delivered. The problems in question have been resolved and I am working dilligently to take care of these back orders and make sure all current clients receive good customer service.

I am putting together a list of recent customers who would be willing to assist in spreading the word that I am taking good care of people who are ordering from Ram Controls. This help can be in a number of ways. The first is way is for those of you who are members of KLOV or BYOAC to post on those forums that the orders you placed were processed in a timely manner and you received your product. The second is to allow me to refer potential customers to you who might want some verification that I am taking care of Ram Controls orders quickly. I will only refer potential customers to past clients who explicitly allow me to do this. If you say no or do not respond I will NOT add you to this list. Both of these are totally voluntary but there is an old saying that goes if you don't ask the answer is always no, so I am asking.

If you cannot or do not want to help I totally understand, but for those who choose to help I very much appreciate the effort. I am working on several new parts and controllers and expect to make several product announcements soon. Thank you for your past business and I look forward to taking good care of you in the future.

Sincerely,

Dan Johnston

This is just a heads up for anyone who still cares I guess. I'm sure most of you involved with the SW yoke and other various pre-order debacles over the years are done with Ram... BUT... I can say that in the last month I've placed 2 orders without issues. Keep in mind that is just for small items that he has lying around, not full replacement assemblies or pre-order items. But at least now I can properly rebuild and lubricate the controls on my games.

Honestly I don't have a lot of faith in the co. (I had to wait about 8-9 months to get my yoke way back when), but am hoping to at least build a stock of spares while they are fulfilling orders. :/ I'm not gonna go crazy with big orders though, and if I don't get a tracking number within 3-5 days then I claim with PayPal immediately (I actually specify that on the note when placing my order so it is clear). Haven't had to so far, but we'll see.

EDIT: Oh and if there is another thread for this already please merge or delete, I didn't bother with a search, sorry.

EDIT2: Oh, right, there is an entire subforum. Vaguely remembered something about that. Please move, and sorry for cluttering.

Hm... yes... very insightful comments gozer5454, your input is appreciated.

Hasn't Dave claimed to be new owners to his own business before? God, there is so much drama that follows him that I can't keep it all straight.

I can't either. Is this something he has done before? Am I about to get laid into by angry former customers? :/

I don't give a damn who runs the company honestly. It concerns me that he has ripped off people in the past, but since I stopped keeping up with the drama I'm not sure that he didn't eventually fulfill his obligations anyways...?

I just wanna build up stock on parts for my games. Which are 95% Atari. And unfortunately have no other source. :( Just thought my feedback might be useful for the odd member just trying to get a new hall sensor or tube of Nyogel. The email prompted said post, but my eyes were glazing over after the first few sentences, too. :/

Like I said back when Dave was responding to the threads, if this is for real, he needs to team up with videogameparts/arcadeshop/mikesarcade, etc.. and just make things and let others handle the sales. Don't do blowout sales and screw it up for the resellers. Sell at a reasonable cost. Sure, I liked the sales, but it didn't really sustain the business.

I'm just happy that there were funds left in the PayPal account and that I got the claim filed with 2 days to spare.

This type of behavior "sold the business" has been seen before...

RJ

PS: First page on a soon to be epic thread!

I seriously doubt the "new owner" has made good on all the orders gone bad that Dave did. I haven't seen any "HOLY SHIT!!!!! I got my star wars cockpit delivered today posts or even "You'll never fucking believe this but I got my money back" posts. If all issues have been made right there would be a lot of happy folks around here. Maybe not happy or forgiving to RAM controls but still damn happy that ultimately they didn't get screwed.

BTW buyer beware Dave has lied before and it's possible if not likely that he is still running RAM controls. In the past I ordered an "on the shelf" part that should have taken a week to get to me tops. I did get the part but not until a year and a half later and many emails and lies saying the item had shipped repeatedly.

Seriously folks, think about it just a second. You really think that anyone would actually pay for this "business"? What did Dave show "Dan" as the assets of this company? What inventory, what PO's, what type of incoming orders does this business have to make it worth some sort of purchase price? And then the outstanding unfilled orders for SW cabinets and parts....Yes, it smells almost as bad a Casey Anthony's car trunk, it's STINKY!

A little Febreze should do the trick.

If he has "purchased" RAM Controls then he has purchased its debt, and past due tax obligations. Anyone buying a business should be doing a check on its "Goodwill" to verify that there isn't extensive bad debt or tax issues or credit issues.

Buying out Dave's inventory and/our manufacturing equipment and intellectual property makes sense, but not the company as a whole.

The name is toxic as has been mentioned, there is existing bad debt, and no doubt tax liability.

I wouldn't trust that email. I would guess it is Dave up to a new old trick, or someone who just bought a huge problem and has no idea what he is getting into.

I would want a face to face conversation before even thinking of buying a screw.

For a long time my thought has been that I would not buy from RAM controls unless I could pick up the item in person. That was only with the idea of not being screwed. Truthfully I just don't even feel right dealing with RAM controls and paying them money knowing that they owe so many people money and clearly have no intention of paying it back.

Anybody still ordering from his has serious issues with learning from past mistakes. The guy is a crook, has robbed tons of people all over the world, and you shouldn't support him with your money. By buying things from him, you just let him keep going and keep ripping people off.

That you would even consider believing that he's a different person is incredible. Look @ the way the email is worded, look at his promise to make new parts, etc. it's exactly like Dave always does. The guy is a crook, should get a good asswhipping that puts him in the hospital, and then should be sent to prison.

Period.
