I bought 3 of these battery backed up RAM chips for various projects, but it looks like the guy who marks pin 1 called out that day. Looking at the picture, can someone tell me if pin 1 would be the lower left pin, or the upper right.

Thanks
Don

Let me know if it works in your Pole Position. If it does, I want to pick up a couple myself!

Finally got some time to play with this. Tried two different new zeropower RAM chips and the board wouldn't fire up with either of them. It looks like it hangs up halfway through the power up cycle. Put the original RAM in and it works fine. I had some older zeropower chips I bought about 11 years ago (figured the battery was no longer any good so bought the new ones) and decided to try one of those. The game came up fine. WTF? I ran a race to get a high score (actually two races) and input my initials. I'll check tomorrow to see if they are still there. Not sure why the new chips don't work (although their date code is 00, so I guess they are 10 years old).

It all depends on how their used... they could've had 10 years of being ran ragged, while the other ones have had 11 years of peaceful grazing.

I am curious (and hopeful) that it saved your scores. If so, then it looks like ill be going shopping :D

I checked the high scores today when I got home from work and my initials were still there. I wonder if the new chips I bought are too fast - they are rated at 150 ns, and the original RAM and the zeropower that works are both rated 200ns.
