I picked up a Rally X yesterday. I bought it with the idea that I could turn it into a Pac Man, but I immediately noticed it is not as deep. Since the monitor is horizontal, the cabinet doesn't need as much depth to house it. Pac Man has a vertical monitor and is obviously deeper to make it fit.

Are the front 'curves' on the cabinet sides the same shape as those on a Pac Man or Galaxian cabinet? If so I could at least trace those contours and make a Pac Man cabinet from the general dimensions. i figured I would ask before I spent the time doing it only to find out later that it isn't the same.

The game is in pretty good shape and plays well. I am tempted to part it out, but it just looks so cool. While there are some bumps and bruises, the cabinet seems to be in really good shape. Might have to just sell it off as is to somebody who would like a working machine.

Anyhow, I look forward to any info on the cabinet similarities to a Pac Man.

Thanks!

Most would recommend that you leave the Rally X as is, as there aren't a ton of them out there. On the other hand, there are a ton of converted Pac cabinets out there, especially if you're willing to repaint, as you'd have to do for the Rally X cabinet.

The front curves are the same. Not sure about the top though.

Good to know! I will measure and convert those into CAD and leave the cabinet and game original. The top curves are definitely different. It doesn't slope down towards the back like Pac Man and Galaxian. Instead it has a somewhat uneven, yet 'level' arch on the top.

I also agree that it is better to keep it as a Rally X. The cabinet is growing on me. It has the same 'speckled' paint thing that Pac Man has, just in a different color scheme. It has a G07 monitor in it. With a cap kit and a new CPO, this machine would be pretty damn nice! It plays great.

When I picked up the game, I was also given a set of "RALLY X" Wisconsin license plates that apparently belonged to the original owner. Very cool stuff. I am sure somebody would love this machine and those plates. After I am done measuring everything I will probably put it up for sale or trade here.

Thanks for the help guys!

Agreed. Someone would want the Rally X. I used to have the cocktail version and I still wish I had it sometimes.
