I am landing a nice rally X tomorrow. Probably a 9+ condition.

I am considering what to do with it. Its in an original midway style cab. Does anyone know if the monitor will turn?

It's probably the nicest example of the game I've ever seen... I am questioning whether or not I can convert it... bad Karma

Anyone ever change one over to 60-in 1?

No, don't convert it! Rally-X machines are pretty uncommon. It is actually a really fun and challenging game. One in 9+ shape is too nice to part out.

Do you even have to ask? Of course you shouldn't convert it! Besides - what's wrong with Rally-X? I always liked that game. It's really a lot of fun - and you don't see it very often in dedicated form. Keep it as-is, and if you don't like Rally-X, trade it for something else. Play it for a while, I think it'll grow on you.

There's also New Rally-X, which is pretty much the same game, but alot easier. I imagine that board would drop right in too.

You know better, don't do it. Get a converted vertical cab from somewhere, or offer it up to trade for another game plus an empty vertical shell. Don't be the guy that kills a surviving, dedicated, 'cherry,' 30 year old game to turn it into a 60-in-1.

I will trade you an empty Pac-Man cab (plus some money) with unsalvagable sideart that you can sand down the sides and paint and decal however you want for that. Or I can trade you a better empty Pac-Man cab with decent art as well.. Both would be better than converting the RallyX to a 60-in-1. Take something already gutted from horrible conversions instead vs. ruining a nice RallyX. Of course you'd have to come up about halfway on the west side of Minnesota to trade.

BTW--A RallyX cab is about 5" shallower than a Pac-Man/Galaxian. While you can turn the monitor you will need to either ensure you use a vertical frame (a lot rarer) or cut a hole in the back for the horizontal frame to stick out.

I've converted a Pac-Man to a 60-in-1 (before anyone bashes--it was a homemade plywood cab cut identically to a Pac--apparently the original was water damaged and they moved stuff over). Many people use a Pac/Galaxian/RallyX style cab to convert and there are pre-made metal control panels that will drop right in as well with good artwork.

But please don't kill off the RallyX.. If we were closer I'd definitely be interested in trading something so everyone would be happy.

NewRallyX consists of a couple code eprom differences and a new color PROM. 3 total chips to swap out IIRC. Identical board. With a fast enough eprom to serve as a PROM and adaptor you can easily convert a rallyx board to play both games with a flip of a switch.

Convert a 9+ condition Rally-X to a 60-in-1, so you can play........Rally-X?

Actually, Rally-X sucks on the 60-in-1's, since they rearranged the screen to fit vertically. It's much better on the horizontal 19-in-1's.

i have to chime in here! kjoel gave me his very nice rally-x cocktail (which was copious') minus a monitor, got a monitor and saved it only because it was very rare (to me) it also had the spaeth kit which plays both rally x games. i played it and it is veeery cool and exciting! give it a try!at the very least save it! i love it!!!

.

Dont convert it. There are not many left. Fun game and it fits in a corner well.

I got 1 also, nice one. I got it from a friend of yours aaron..........

>>converting is not an option looks great just the way it is. FYI you can do what everyone else does, get a galaga and put a 60-1 in that....but thats not an option either...LOL

its a keeper PICS up.

I am not crazy about the game, but the game is in awesome condition. The side art is simply and cool. It really wasn't a forgone conclusion. I didn't know that the game was rare. It was at 2 different places in Burlington Iowa when I was a kid. I will add it to the heard my kids enjoyed playing it. When the game board craps out I might convert it then.
