Raiders of the Lost Ark-ades, Yucatan Peninsula style...

Just got back from the Yucatan Peninsula ( Cancun) after spending a week there with my Wife ( no this is not a April Fool's Joke) and really had a blast. It was interesting to see arcade games in the middle of nowhere in the poorest of villages.

This place had an arcade in it. We could see it as we drove by but it did not show up in the first pic. The second pic you can see kids playing the games.

We were on our way to see some of the Mayan ruins and temples. We visited Chichen Itza, Ek Balam, and Coba'. I only have pics of Ek Balam and Coba' as we lost our camera for a day at the resort before someone turned it in. We were without it for Chichen and then had it back for the other ruins. More pics coming...

Food we ate in a little Mayan village near Coba'

Killer Carne Asada tacos we ate at Poc-Chuc (pictured somewhere above) on Isla Mujeres.
Some of the best I have ever had.

Wow! And I thought my hotel was nice.

I was in Cancun for my sister's wedding back in November (well, Playa Del Carmen to be exact). How did you like it? I loved it, even though I didn't spot any arcade games.

Here's a pic of me in Tulum:

We had such a blast. We were so close to going to Tulum too but it came down to Tulum, Coba' and Ek Balam and we chose Ek Balam and Coba' because you can still climb the ruins there and Tulum you can't. We figured we better see them before they are roped off like Tulum. As you can tell from my pics, I am on the top looking down in most of them. Totally unreal to see it in person.

Wow, looks like you had a good time, Dave. Those ruins are incredible. Leave it to you to spot arcade games while on vacation in Cancun! :D

Next time we will be renting a car on the Yucatan and not taking a bus so we can stop whenever and wherever we want. I would have loved to have gone in some arcades. I am willing to bet these games are set up for pesos as they are pretty far from Cancun. After seeing a couple games sitting in front of places, I was looking everywhere for them. Just like I look in garages as I drive around the streets here.
