Raiden Fighters at a local arcade, has been broken for about 5 months. Coin door lights up, that's about all it does. Since the owner owns his own games and doesn't seem to know how to fix it I was going to do a lowball offer and see if I can pick it up as a project cab. It's in some weird black cab with a curved marquee but for a painted-black conversion the cab is pretty minty. What would be a fair (but not too fair :D) offer, and how much would I be looking at to fix a dead cab of the sort? I've never tried to buy something from an arcade before non-working, though I did try to get a Virtual On from a skating rink (with a horrible graphics error... they wanted 1000 for it @_@).

Ebay price on the board is 100-150. The cab sounds like a Data East cab, so if I was just spit balling, I'd say an offer of less than 135 would be what you should be shooting for. Now if it worked, I'd say an offer of 200 might be in order. But is sounds like its a 19" game. But hey, if you really want a Raiden Fighters, offer what you want.

Thanks for the input... I just want a Raiden in general, Raiden II is my favorite and I've never played that specific Fighters game (the first xD) but if I could get it for a good price... I'll probably just ask him what he wants for it and decide from there. I was thinking somewhere from 75-100, I'll see what he says... if he wants too much I may be better off to just buy a working Raiden II, haha.

the Raiden games pretty much get better the further they take it. If you like Raiden2..your going to love RaidenFighters...

That's good to hear. I loved Raiden IV so it's a good bet I'll like this one too. I'll be honest, it looks cooler than II.

I'll shoot him a call tomorrow and give an update. He may not want to sell it at all, but if he doesn't he better at least fix it, heheh.

Raiden Fighters is actually a spin off of the Raiden series. With that said, I think the Raiden Fighters series is the shit compared to regular ole' plain Jane Raiden. 150-ish is about right. I'll also second the Data East cab guess. Generic. Late 80's/early 90's cab. Curved marquee. Bad Dudes instantly comes to mind. :p

Bad Dudes... Robocop... The Real Ghostbusters (slightly modified for 3 players).

My first MAME cab was a Robocop that had been converted to a SFII...

The CP is actually a Real Ghostbusters CP that I hacked on to the cab (which wasn't modified to accommodate the wider CP)...

Yep, it's a Robocop. It looks pretty neat though. Didn't get a hold of him today, good thing there's always tommorow ;)

Damn Friz! I almost forgot how much I want a vertical MAME cab. Your post is going to end up costing me money! :)
