The good news is that if I ever end up being cast on Survivor, I'll know how to start a fire with a pinball machine, the bad news is that I'm pretty sure that I just broke something learning this feat.

I've got a star trip cocktail pinball machine by Gameplan that I think has a bad MPU board. All the lights seemed to work, but it couldn't get through the self diagnosis. After checking out some youtube videos, I figured it would be easy to fix. Since I wanted to test the voltage, I plugged the game in and started poking around at various points on the power supply with my multimeter. It didn't take long before I touched my red lead to one of the solder points going into the radio noise filter when there was a big spark and the entire thing went dead.

While I'm a big fan of fireworks, I now have a pinball machine that is entirely dead. Before replacing the radio noise filter outright, I wanted to see if anyone had some advice on what I may have blown and how to check to see if I did more damage than I know. Also if anyone has any advice on what not to touch with my multimeter going forward, it would be most appreciated.
