I saw on Ebay several listings for "untested" DK boarsets for $50 each buy it now or best offer and free shipping. I noticed one of them was a TRS boardset so I offered $30 and got it for $40 shipped.

I have a red DK with a TKG2 boardset which is a converted Radarscope so I figure it would be a good backup or at the very least parts.

I got it today and plugged it in and it works perfect and as an added bonus it's the original roms with the ladder cheat and it runs all 4 boards on each level. Each level is the same 4 boards they just get harder.

I noticed another wierd thing. - The high score allows far more than the 3 digits for the name. Does anyone else's early romset do this?????

Anyway here's a couple pics.... - Barry

Some of the Radarscope boardsets that made it to the US allowed you to enter up to 12 letters for high score initials. I have one TRS 4 board stack that allows 12 and 1 TRS 4 board stack that allows only 3.

I have heard rumors that the Japanese boards allowed more initials even into DK time much like the board I have but have no way to confirm that. The board order would support Japanese ROM's. You have to ask yourself how a Japanese boardset made it here to the US?

Hey Barry,

I was taking a closer look at the board pictures and I'm not sure that the ROM's I see on the sound board are original. Do they match the tags on your TKG2 baordset. Most should have the end ROM socketed. It would be interesting to see the tags on the ROMs on the other two boards. I wonder if this was a later field conversion that someone burned and put the Japanese romset into.

Anyone else have an early DKs (TKG-2s) with the Japanese program? I wonder whether it was the norm until they went to TKG-3.

The MAME rom I have for Japanese DK (Set 2) has the ladder cheat, the japanese board order, and allows you to put something like 10 letters in.

They don't look to be original roms as in they don't look like the others I've seen, they are just hand written on. It makes me wonder if this was a field conversion radarscope to DK.

The guy I got it from had several boardsets and said he had no way to test them so I'm not sure where it came from. I'll check my TKG2 boardset and see. - Barry
