Race Drivin

In most cases I would say for $50 jump on it.... BUT...

There is no monitor... and that bad boy takes a 27" medium res. If the PCB's aren't working... what's the point. The cabinet is heavy as all hell... and unless you have plans to restore it (requiring some decent dough)... this is the 1 out of 20 times I say ... don't bother. (My opinion only of course).

Thinking of picking up the Race Drivin machine in the link, but I'm not sure if I should. It seems to be somewhat difficult to find parts for and it isn't working. On the other hand it is only $50. What do you all think?

Darn not local to me. Otherwise I may have made the decision for you ;)

No in all seriousness, I've learned the hard way that when you get down to the $50-100 range you either sh!t or get off the pot. I'm not saying it's guaranteed to happen but if any part of you wants a machine and it's in this price range I advise against posting until you have it.

Thanks for being candid. I probably won't get it, I think I'll wait for another racing game to come along that I have played in the past. The $50 mark got me but I can't see myself enjoying playig the 3 tracks over and over. Maybe if there were more variety.

It is heavy, but if you have a place to put it they are fantastic. You could make money just parting it out if it doesnt work...I would get it!!!!

I MISS MY CP!!!!!!!

FOR $50, GET IT.......NOWWWWWWWWW

That has a 25" med res monitor in it, if you cant fix it its still worth grabbing.

THe cockpit is a fussy bastard, but when its all fixed up, man its fricking cool. The graphics are archaric, but this was the first game to actually get the "feel" of driving a race car right.

I had the cockpit untill i moved and realized it would not fit down my stairs. I now own a upright :D

Yes, its a heavy bastard. two friends of mine helped me load it in a truck using a solid wood door as a ramp. It weigs several hiundred pounds but its on wheels so its not so bad.

If i was local id grab that just to fix and trade or sell off to somebody else(to save it)

Its actually a pretty reliable game for how complicated it is. Monitor fails, but it should be fixable. It could be just that the battery is dead and it needs to be calibrated before it will come up.

I agree you should grab it. 25" medium rez monitor in it. You could probably sell the board for $150+. BUt at 750lbs, its not fun to move.

Its missing the access doors and overhead marquee. I would say go see it.

The seller contacted me and told he had sold it earlier in the day at the yard sale that was mentioned in the ad, so it was sold before I even posted anything.

I saw medium res and $50 and that's all I needed. I couldn't believe it was still there. The monitor worked but the car would only go hard left no matter how much time spent calibrating. It didn't want to retain any settings or book keeping stats. I didn't get a chance to play with it much last night. I read at work today about the timekeeper and z02 causing issues like this. I ordered both from mouser before I got off work. When I got home I busted the multimeter out and found the game board was sitting at about 4.5v. Bumped it up to 5v and all of a sudden the date and time were working. Y2K had the game sitting at 1902. lol. Ran the calibration and the settings saved!!! I've been playing it all night.... forgot how much fun it really is. I remember remarking back in the day how realistic the graphics are. lmao. Brought back all kinds of memories of playing the upright at Crazy Cats. I still have a minor issue with the brakes and the seat doesn't lock. But hey, for fifty bucks I expected to have to fix something!!! Btw, the marquee and panels were all there and it was really stupid heavy.

Congrats on getting working! Nice it was complete. I think people have posted about the seat lock having problems, I am sure you will find a fix. Its not an easy game to sell beacuse of its size, but there are people that care for it. So with patience, you can find a home for it if you choose to ever sell it..

Thanks. Finally an easy fix. LOL. I'm probably going to hang on to it for a while. The wife actually likes this one and my son wants to "pimp it out"!!! He wants a chain link steering wheel and a skull shifter knob.

Hey SLo, I live in Huber. Congrats on getting the game to work.

Thanks. We're practically neighbors!!! Great to meet a local KLOVer.
