Race Drivin stand up compact

And this is why I love this community ❤️! Your seat looks great and I can't believe how much the game over towers the others seen in the photo lol.

Well, I've never done upholstery and one of my clients who does retired last year, so I'll need to take a stab at it or ask the Mrs for some help if all fails.

Thanks!

It wasn't hard. All you need is to have the Walmart fabric debt (or any place that sells fabrics) cut your new cover "WIDTH" precisely, the right width, with their big cutter. it will look jagged and Not good other wise. The wrap around length that you will tack / staple under on underneath is a lot more forgiving (you woun't see it.) You can hand cut that down with scissors if need be. I put mine back together in about a half an hour. JUST TAKE YOUR TIME and make sure it looks and fits right before you staple / tack it back on.

Yes Hard Drivin' / Race Drivin', COMPACTS, are TALL. It does tower over the other cabs! :)

Well guys, looks like the compact is out the window as I found my cockpit grail!! I'm currently aiding a local operator sell off cabinets before the property closes and now and behold, he had both hard and Race cockpits! The race is trashed and is good for parts only as the PB base has disentegrated, however the hard drivin is great for 20 years of storage!

A local friend and collector has 2 of these in his basement and will be helping with getting mine working while I do a resto on it. So excited! Never thought this would happen!

Niiiiiice! That's awesome! Congrats. Honestly the cockpit version is waaaay better. I don't like the way the upright plays at all. I would love to have a Race Drivin cockpit some day. I've moved these machines before. Very heavy!!!

I was just looking at Twin Galaxies for the WR on Race Drivin. Man... I really need to get a cockpit and start playing it again. The WR on Super Stunt Track is only 607,000. My best from back in the early 90's was over 4 million points.

Here is mine. It has some dings but I'm overall nice condition. I swapped the chrome t-molding for yellow and added new artwork. I wish I could find artwork for the seat side.

Last nite I successfully linked my R.D. Cockpit too my R.D. Upright...... Works perfect!!
Playing it linked is a blast!!

Before I acquired the Cockpit we where all very competitive on the Upright playing the buddy race on the original tack and super stunt track trying for the quickest time for the 2 laps....

Linking it has really turned up the heat!! It's way more fun making a pass on your buddy in real time talking smack..... ha

Bringing this thread back. A friend of mine had his compact Hard Drivin' for sale and I couldn't pass it up, so I grabbed it to tie me over until my cockpit is fully restored next spring / summer. Of course in true fashion, I had to strip it all down yesterday and start a full resto 🙄 why can't we just play them the way they are sometimes? I guess I can't stand having rusty pedals in my gameroom lol. Anyway, here's a photo, now I have to reach out to Galloping Ghost and inquire on a full set of artwork. The files listed on the site are a bit confusing, as far as the sideart goes......

At least this one plays and it wasn't nearly as bad to strip it down as I thought. Amazing when empty, it's much easier to move around lol.

Awesome, fun game. I've got a couple Hard Drivin compact pcb sets for my HD compact and they are much more reliable than the couple Race drivin compact pcb sets that I've got. Trying to troubleshoot why they aren't working. I suspect ram somewhere. It's been about a year since I've looked at them, planning on doing that soon.

Can someone with a compact pleas epost up photos of their control panel? This abort button off my panel does not look correct. Was the abort button not square and light up? Maybe I'm making things up.....

I had the same issue on my compact Hard Drivin', a previous owner / operator replaced the correct LED / Volcano switch (Licon at that point not Cherry brand - same type switch) by "crudely chiseling out" the CP and puting in a round push button leaf switch. Of course, also cut the wiring to it and the plug off. It was a mess. At first I found a way to patch the hole using a heavy piece of white plastic I had, left over I think from new siding parts on my house. Cut it and it covered the hole nicely (Yes I had to metal screw the plastic down to the CP) then I drilled out a hole in it to put the correct Licon Volcano LED switch back in and made a new wiring harness and hooked it all back up. Worked great! Stlll I wanted the game back as it should be. Fortunately for me at the time, about five years ago, there were several Compact Hard Drivin's being parted out and posted on eBay. I bought a near pefect complete control panel and replaced it. Also found a complete wiring harness and replaced it too. Photo as it is now back the way it should be. :)

That control panel looks great! Sadly, I think I'll have to look at another option, perhaps a small red illuminated Square button, assuming the button is indeed illuminated from Factory

It is illuminated from Atari Games - factory. It is a Licon ( Cherry should work to just fine too) LED volcano switch button. It flashes when the instant replay is activated (resulting from you crashing your car) and you, obviously, push the button if you do not want to watch it.

Edit / add: The sit down / cockpit version had a square lighted push button seat adjust switch - Maybe you could put one of those in it?

Stephen at Arcade Fix it still has NOS ones. Maybe email him and ask the size and specs. It should be lighted and a single pole single throw switch (N/O?). Maybe you can get the "Seat Adjust" label out of it too. Just a thought.

PS / edit; He is @Mylstar on KLOV

Good luck,

Mike.
