that is a K7000A made by zenith not wells gardner and i would cap it and reflow solder on the input header. i would agree it looks like sync which could also be the wiring and have you checked this with another game or checked another monitor on this game to make sure its that chassis.

no but the thing changed issues and went bananas when i was messing with the horizontal adjustment pot. That makes me pretty sure its in the chassis

did you check the pot which may be bad or cracked or dirty.

I would try the main board GSP test for the VRAM.

If you see some red blur it means a ram is dead.

ill post a video today i have another game that is working if you can get me pointed in the right direction the picture isnt rolling

Cockpit or upright? Cockpit is med. res, and upright is standard res. There's a difference in the pcbsets as well. It almost looks like to me you've got a mismatch.

Man... Atari really was the shit back then. What an awesome game. Watching your video reminded me of how much fun that game is but also how hard it can be.

You should cap that bad boy and check for sold solder around those two diodes that are standing up next to the yoke connector.

I would suggest adjusting the contrast but thats looking like a board issue. Not sure where to look though....

I'm talking about the monitor chassis. It looks like its still got factory caps on it from the pic you posted.

nevermind, I see the new caps in your video.

Theres a pot marked 50/60hz on the board that might help with that. Might not though...

is there something different between the 2 race drivn pcbs? It looks like they have different demo screens showing track layout.

since you have the 2 cabs right next to each other, plug the video cable into the other one and see if you get a different result.

nevermind. they are showing diffferent parts of the demo. cool to see 2 linked.
