Hello everyone, I'm wondering if anyone could help me.

I'm more of a pinball guy, but I had an opportunity to get one of my "Grail" games this past week, Race Drivin'. So I bought it and had it shipped. It arrived tonight, but after I got it into my basement (that's an entirely different story!), I turned it on and the screen says "ASIC 65 TIMEOUT". The screen that says that is white, then it goes black, then back to the white screen with the message. I'm assuming something got jostled loose during transport, but I'm here to ask if anyone knows if it's something more serious.

Thanks in advance for any/all of your help.

You'll have to bear with me. I'm new to this! Where is the DSK board? Not seeing it in the manual.

I don't believe it's listed in the manual. It's the smallest PCB in the boardset. I've highlighted it along with the ASIC65 in the attached photo.

Hmmm, interesting. Didn't know those little chips were capable of falling out during transport. I'll check once I get home. Thanks!

Just checked. Looks to be sitting in there nicely.

Could it be a bad chip? What should I check next?

Okay, something I did worked because I was able to actually play a game on it. Unfortunately, the screen gets a little wonky here and there, and the gas pedal seems to work just some of the time. Sometimes I can get going real fast, sometimes it takes forever to get up to 40 mph, and sometimes I sit there with the engine revving but I'm not moving an inch.

Suggestions?

Ever driven a manual before? Sounds like you may have burned up your clutch. ;)

But seriously... go into test mode and do the input test and calibration. See if the inputs are consistently good. And the game is really picky about shifting (they tried to make it kinda like a simulator), so if you shift into 1st w/o the clutch, it won't go into gear, and instead will just stay in neutral and rev. So, make sure the clutch is working properly, as well as the gear shifter.

This is all happening in automatic. Pretty sure it's just the switch inside the gas pedal needs some adjustment. Going to take it out tonight and see what's up.
