I had recieved this Cabinet and Cabinet is far from project. It has damaged all over to the cabinet and needed to do some BONDOS!!!... Sidearts had been present and I hate to remove and decide to pass the R-Type Kit to KLOV and Install PC10 to this Cabinet.

This is my first flip over to make it look nicer and I grade em as FLUNK! Seriously FLUNK but .... Fixed the damaged on the corners using the Body Filler. and It was great experience.

I still havent finish fixing the base wood. It need paint and also install a red T-Molding. It would look good. Im gonna try find a good price sideart then it s all done!!!!!

Nice work? More like abomination...

R-Type cabinets aren't the same as PC10 cabinets, and that thing looked way better as an R-Type.

I could think of worse things to have done though.

Edit: I'm not insulting your work, I think you did a good job...just to the wrong cabinet.

well. RTYPE IS FUN TO PLAY!.. I liked PC10 more and what to choose over DK cabinet or Rtype cabinet?

I checked the sites and it looks nicer if i install pc10 into the Rtype cabinet style compared to DK otherwise i ll have to find dual monitor!!

Which is the orginial single monitor cab for the Playchoice?!!!!??

I kind of agree. R-Type >>>>> PC-10. For that cabinet anyway.

As far as I know they are very similar. Phet would be the one to ask about that. But I just think overall R-Type is a better game to have. I dont see much PC10 appeal, as they are the identical NES games, so I'll just play those on my NES like i have for years and years. That being said...opinions are like assholes.

Say what? R-Type, PlayChoice (single monitor), and VS. UniSystem are all the same cabinet. However, I am interested to know what you think the differences are.

By the way, judging by the color, the OP's machine most likely started life as a dedicated VS. UniSystem machine (R-Types were black).

+1 it was actually a dedicated VS not rtype and all three are the same except color.

You're both BLIND then, R-Type is a different cabinet than ALL the rest of them. Go take a look at V.S. Cabinets and PC10 cabs a little closer...

That seller may have said it was in a VS cab, but VS cabs don't have quite those angles...the VS angle at the marquee is higher, and down near the kickplate is a smooth curve outward. This cab is a dedicated R-Type.

Nintendo cabs are all very very similar, but there's small noticeable differences between certain ones to those who notice.

I see you edited your post to remove your claim that PC10 cabinets have no angle at the marquee, which is of course, wrong.

As I said before, R-Type, PlayChoice (single monitor), and VS. UniSystem are all the same cabinet, but I'm open to actual evidence that proves otherwise.

And what is your theory with the OP's cabinet? You think it came from the factory as a black R-Type, and then somewhere along the line, someone removed the sideart, repainted the cabinet to match the color of a dedicated VS. UniSystem cabinet, and then reapplied the R-Type sideart?

Can't say I've never seen a V.S. that was white...orange and blue yes, white no.

I'm not gonna argue it, if you'd bother to look at the cabs lines...you'd see for yourself.

Edit: Google found me a white one, and even it has the same lines as any other...but not of the R-Type.

Who cares what color the cab was painted, numerous people have repainted Nintendo cabs whatever color they felt went with the game...the DKs are quite the example in different color choices. And I've personally seen cabs that have been repainted with other art put on multiple times...they're called "Conversions", and plenty of cabs have been converted, then re-converted multiple times.

VS. cabinets were gray, same as the OP's cabinet was before he painted it black.

I've looked at all three. They all have the same lines, because they are the same cabinet.

Why don't you state specifically what you believe makes an R-Type different than a VS. or PC10 cabinet, because the following ...

"but VS cabs don't have quite those angles...the VS angle at the marquee is higher, and down near the kickplate is a smooth curve outward."

... is vague. Plus those cabinets don't have any curves, aside from in some of the various transitions from straight-to-straight (such as rounded corners).

Yes, conversions. And apparently you think that this cabinet was converted from a black R-Type to a gray R-type (which would involve removing the sideart, repainting to "VS. gray", and then reapplying the same sideart); which is an unlikely course of events.

Guys..

The history of this was orginally bought by Prarried.. he told me that this is VS Unisystem converted Rtype but making it becoming dedicated by putting serial plate on it. I do not know if Prarried had put beautiful sideart on GRAY painted. I was like I had to remove the sideart if i want it to be black and make it offically rtype cabinet...

I need to get rid of several cabinets fast!!!. I decided to sell Rtype for 250 OBO and it took around 3-4 weeks with no offers. Someone had nerve to offer 100 which I didnt respond to (craigslist). I was like umm.. I found a buyer who wants my DK cabinet (converted to PC10) He didnt want the game or anything out of it. Just a cabinet so he can install Castlevania in it.

I though it would be sexy to install PC10 in a black cabinet with red tmolding. I decide to cross reference and got everyone happy include myself.

I researched and I see Unisystem painted into Grey... Rtype painted into Black... PC10 painted into Black alsoooo....

http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detail.php?game_id=9042

it s on front page.. I dont like black tmolding so i ordered red and it brings MORE BLOOD of PC10!.. I need to find the nice sidearts and it will looks NICE!!!!. I just finished up the base part and painted into black.. It s cool and not bad for my first worst restoration I ever had (using body filling bondo).

I had seen Moppet converted into Crystal Castle which is horrible! (sorry noice) =)

Im not converting NINTENDO TO ATARI or another way!!. knowing what i mean!!!!!

There is another good angling to see on PC10 single monitor

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230612613296+&item=230612613296

I think red tmolding will bring out more PC10????

That is completely the same cab profile as my dedicated PC10. Why would Nintendo makes cabs that have only slight differences?

Are you going for just the standard sideart or with the extra Nintendo logo?

yes. with or without NINTENDO Logo.. I havent decide yet!!!.

i need to find better marquee too cuz this one is for dual monitor and i stupidly hack it up and attached to the plexglass and black taped and installed in dk cab!

I kinda of regret o well.. cuz i didnt think of preservation first place. Lesson learned!.

I think I can manage to find sideart somewhere on net but I was not sure if I can find the PC10 Serial metal plate???

where can i find it?

anybody selling? what label it shows??

Guys..

he told me that this is VS Unisystem converted Rtype

Exactly.

Nothing to worry about. Nothing that came in those VS/PC10/R-Type cabinets was a classic. Nintendo wasn't even trying at that point, at least not on the arcade front. Their last real arcade game was Arm Wrestling in '85. R-Type wasn't even a Nintendo game (they licensed it from Irem), and VS. and PC10 were just existing NES games (or in some cases, official hacks of existing NES games). So there is nothing sacred about that style of Nintendo cabinet.

If it were mine, I would return it to its VS. UniSystem status and install VS. Excitebike in it, simply because that's one of the machines that I spent a lot of time on as a kid.
