R-Type Restoration

Anyone also notice the hue difference between the poster and Phet's? Phet's is more blue, and the poster is more magenta.

I adjusted Phet's to match the poster more, I figure the poster was a preproduction model and they changed the color in the production models.

I noticed the color difference in the CPO mainly. The side art looks the same, just more detail in the planet.

Looks great, especially considering how quickly you turned this one around

One and a half weeks to be exact. Most of that was disassembling, refinishing and reassembling the coin doors and waiting for paint/bondo to dry. I like it when they don't require full stripdowns/ teardowns. That's 2 'easier' ones this summer, Double Dragon and R-Type. My next 2 won't be as easy.

Can anyone tell me what I used to prop the game up whilst I installed the new base? At least tell me what game it came from? Anyone?

It looks really good. No suprise though, your work is top notch!

This thread influenced me to replace my Player 1 and 2 buttons with the correct blue and green ones last night. I needed to tighten up my loose Nintendo joystick on that machine anyway, so it was worth the effort in the cp removal.

No guesses at all? I'll give you til tomorrow morning.

The power supply/transformer set-up from a Zaxxon cabinet was the correct answer. Back to R-Type. I played for a while yesterday. I reached the big Alien from the side art twice (on 3 guys each time), but couldn't get past him. Damn his tail and his tummy monster. How did Nintendo/ Irem not get sued by HR Geiger? Didn't notice my score. Game is fun, seriously. I love it.

That is just the first boss. He is a piece of cake compared to the third one...

Tip: Launch your "Force" pod at the alien's stomach after he appears and move your ship far to the left as you can, out of the way. It will constantly hit him until he's dead. You can press the fire button to make the process quicker. Should kill him in a matter of seconds.

To me the hardest boss is the one at the end of level 5 (Brain boss.)
His pattern is random and if you don't have a good weapon with at least one option=you're screwed...
