After looking for 3+ years, I finally found an nice R-Type within striking distance. I grabbed my Truck, my Tut and my daughter and travelled 200 miles to meet up with Flynn54321 (my good friend Brad). Other than a Punchout, this has been the most elusive Ninty for me so far. Pics:

Side art is in really good shape, though it has a bit of bubbling from incorrect installation. CPO has a ding out of it, but otherwise acceptable. A new base, a few corner repairs, mask off the side art and paint black around it, and this will be game room worthy. Thanks Brad.

If ya ever wanna sell it, I'm the guy in your backyard with the binocs and parabolics. By the way, could ya please increase the level of bedroom activity. I'm getting tired of hearing nothing but games of Primal Rage punctuated by pretzel crunching.

So you're the one who ate the pie I set out on the window to cool. I guess I did see you out there a few times, but I thought we had a bearded weasel infestation. I better put the .22 back in the gun rack.

Glad you like it Phet... wish we would have had more time to chat.
I have had it for over a year now and it was time to pass it on to someone who really wanted it.
I am still deciding if I should put my new TUT in the basement or if I should take it to the shop and start the restoration process

Sweeet!! You lucky dog, at least you have sideart. Mine is just black, I've been searching for the art for a year. Great game too, I think because it's so goddam hard. I get soo pissed playing it, but it keeps me coming back for more. I haven't been able to clear the 5th stage....yet.

That is funny. I had a hell of a time getting past the first stage but once I did I cruised through many stages and actually lost count of which one I lost my last ship on. I haven't had that good of a game since, I usually only get to the fourth stage now...

Once you get all the badass weapons it's awesome. I hardly ever continue when I play, as soon as you die in the later stages and start off with the peashooter again you're screwed. That's where I get stuck on 5th stage, when the flying scissiors are coming at you and just a lame peashooter to try to kill them.

fuck you flying scissors

NICE SCORE! I know a guy who'd probably drive out to your home state with his truck wearing a ski mask if he saw this post, he is like a total R-Type freak, but don't worry, he knows nothing of KLOV and what goes on here and I'm as solid as a goodfella in the mafia. I'll never tell. ;)

I still haven't fired this game up. Some of the screenshots I have seen of the graphics make this game look visually stunning. Seems they borrowed heavily from H.R. Giger when they designed it.

Nice looking game Phet I have a really nice one as well with excellent sideart. Not sure if you know it but R-type was said to be the best scrolling shooter ever made. For intance compare it to Xevious there's no comparison. Its a great game with allot going on and the colors are ausome.I also have an R-Type2 pcb which will plug right in but I have to buypass the sound amp somehow on the monitor I havnt sat down yet and figured that part out.I would like it to be on switch if possible.See R-Type uses the sound amp on the Nitendo monitor and R-Type2 has its own built in amp so it needs to go straight to the speakers like a jamma game does.Great find.....Dave

Cool, I did not know that. I just can't wait to get this fixed up and play it. It'll fit in the Blue Galaxy real nicely.
