So i havent been around or picking much up lately. New son(our first) and building an addition on our house...with new game room.

However around 11:30 pm sat night before bed i decide to scan CL. I see an ad for a Tapper.I get excited as i have been looking for a Tapper. The ad "says its a project but these games usually go for $700.Make offer, text for info/pics."
So i text the guy and ask for pics and here is what i get:

After seeing the pics, i go to bed and wait till morning to respond. I tell him i cant see much but what are you asking? He says make me an offer...so i decide to make the 1.5 hour ride to see...after all it is a tapper and would really look sweet next to his brother timber.

I get there and the game is squeezed into the back hatchback of a small car.:( He opened the hatch and i notice the bottom of the cab is laying next to the cab. :(
Then he goes around to the front and bring me the front of the game which he had in the front seat. :( ....along with cp.

The game was falling apart..it was sad.

The guys says..."i told you it was a project"

Anyway here are the pics. Everything was there. The game was poorly taken care of to say the least.

Just wanted to share RIP tapper

Not sure what im going to do with parts yet. I may hang onto them while i look for a cab.

So you got it?

What are your woodworking skills? I ask, because the whole sideart package has been reproduced and is available. I've seen at least one thread where someone built a brand new cabinet to replace a rotten one and I may do the same. I have the stuff to build a Tapper, but my cabinet is in kinda rough shape. The bottom is caving upwards and there's swelling throughout, so I've considered building a new cabinet out of particle board (sides and front) and plywood and doing the art package. Wouldn't be cheap and would take a ton of time, which is why I haven't done it yet, but it can be done!

YOU CAN DO IT! =)

Strip it down, use the old cab as templates and scratch build a new one. That or give DP a call!

Man, Vintage would get some duct tape, bubble gum and a hack saw and have that sucker back together, lol.

Really if you have all the metal bits and glass then building a replacement cabinet is only like another $100. Wood doesn't cost all that much.

Thanks for the suggestions, I think ill try a cap kit and see if that takes care of it :)

i thought about making a cab but honestly i have so many games that need work this would be put on hold for quite some time. But we will see. i did see between Darin and Rich i can get everything i need for it. Artwork and marquee. Everything else is pretty nice actually.

I plan on testing the boards soon..would be sweet if they fired right up!

"These things usually go for $700."

Maybe, but they are usually working and in one piece.

Have you had a chance to test the monitor and boards?

Tapper is actually one of those games that is worth building a cab for. Another way to look at it (and in my case) is that many need new sideart to not like ass anyhow.. mine is pretty much green. With vinyl art applied, I plan to use particle board for the side and front panels, but... since Midway often used a mix of pb and ply, I will make all other panels from 3/4" birch ply, then paint those satin black, instead of black vinyl on pb.

Thanks everyone.

I have lots of pms coming in asking for parts or whole machine.

I havent decided what i want to do with it yet. I do have a few local collectors who could use the parts as well.

If i decide to part it out i will post the parts that are not already spoken for up for sale.
Ive had some pretty generous offers on the parts however i have not made the decision to part it yet.

My first appempt will be to find a cab missing parts/cheap or as suggested look into making one.

Thanks
